Default Index page refuses to change?

Well, this is different- I've never had this happen to me before. I'm trying to change the index page completely so I went through the usual name-changing as I've done it many times before. I renamed the old index page indexA and named the new page index and as usual instructed it to replace the old index page. BUT indexA is still the homepage- makes no sense. any ideas? One page is standbymyproducts.com the other is standbymyproducts.com/indexA.html

http://www.standbymyproducts.com/Membership.php is marked in BV as the index page (it is only in testing mode at the moment). So I have in BV index and indexA.html but the index in bv is the .php site. The first link above should be the third.

By default, only 1 "index" page is allowed per website, and is the page that will display whether or not you use the default domain link ("www.YourDomain.com") or use the actual page name in the link ("www.YourDomain.com/index.html").

You must not create altered page names nased on or using "index" other than the single "index" page as required (do not use page names such as www.YourDomain.com/indexA.html or even www.YourDomain.com/index-b.html). Create another page name to use instead, which will become visible upon using a proper link after the "index" page: maybe use "intro" instead, or "landing" or something else that works for you.

If you are saving multiple website pages in the same folder in BV and are naming each site's "index" page singularly to avoid over-writing the different "index" pages upon saving, try instead to re-save the pages each as "index" in a new Folder within BV created and named for each site proper. Not only will you solve your site organization issues, but also be able to keep your index and other pages safe and separate.

If you are switching your site from .html to .php page format, all pages within the website must be formatted the same for proper function and continuity of navigation.

If you have multiple "index" pages (or derivitives thereof) already published, you would do well to access your public_html/ directory of your account (the Root Directory) and delete all of them until you can re-publish them properly with the required page names and with only 1 "index" page in the same format as intended as the remaining site. It is possible that there is a confliuct between the multiple index pages and types that is preventing you from "seeing" any changes and from your site functioning properly, all of which can be easily restored upon deletion of multiple pages and re-publishing proper types.

We are still in a problem state. I deleted as requested any site (and there were 3-4 of them) that had the word "index" in their url. Some I renamed, others I deleted. They are all html sites bar the 2 causing our problem. The original now renamed index page is http://www.standbymyproducts.com which is a html site. The php site is supposed to be the new homepage but still is not after all the renaming & deleting. There are still 2 duplicate sites at the moment. The BV index page is a php site (trying to run a paid subscriber site if possible- still deliberating that one) and the original site that should have become the index page (page was "saved as" index in BV) is http://www.standbymyproducts.com/Membership.php
The "old" index page which is still mysteriously showing in the browser as the homepage also shows up as the renamed page

I just had a thought, although it sounds a bit ridiculous - were you saying that EVERY page in that BV Folder will now have to be changed to php extension to make it work?

Further progress. I finally deleted those "index" pages in the ftp area and it finally resolved the problem, thank you.

Glad that by following the steps outlined you were able to rectify the errors.
