Thread: Image Optimization

I have few pages on my site that I want to redo the way the images display to cut down on load time. Right now I have them done using the gallery feature from BV with the feature "open in a pop up window". Here's an example of one of my pages. http://www.atexflooring.ca/silver.html

I resized the images to thumbnails and uploaded the original images to the server, than I linked them www.mysite.ca/image.jpg.
I only linked the first 3 images for now. http://www.atexflooring.ca/silver_try.html


Is there a way to have the images open in a pop up window like they do using the gallery feature doing them this way. They open up in a full page right now??

Disregard this question. This route didn't do the trick on saving load time....When I put the links in, it was the same as the gallery....grrrr

Step outside the box for a moment.....

Right now you have on your platinum page:

3x7 = 21 thumbnails @ 75 kb (avg) each = 2,087,214 bytes

Try creating a new page with just your background
and then
create a 4x5 matrix (forgive the pun) = 20 thumbnails
where you would like to see them on your finished page......

Now, take a screenshot(any free prog will do) and save as .jpg

then use this jpg on a NEW page, add your nav and text etc as before
and you should end up with a quicker loading page.......

If you need any more help, send me some thumbnails and I will return an example.

I could always do one page per image and upload it that wayn than link the small sized thumbnails to the pages. I'm gonna have soooo many pages that way.
So I'll ask that same question again.

Is possible to have the image open in a pop up window as it does in the gallery feature vs the entire screen doing them this way??

and yes you can use a popup on the same page whenever you wish.
