Thread: confused and frustrated, need help

At this point, I am very confused and frustrated and need help.

I have done the following:

1. Transferred my domain name to VodaHost and it is now complete and closed.

2. Paid a year in advance for website hosting but when i check my account with Vodahost it shows no hosted domain.

3. Uploaded one webpage for testing, when i input the address it still goes back to my previous hosting company.

4. Contacted them and they said that VodaHost is still pointing all traffic for my website to them.

Actions Taken:


1. At VodaHost, I changed DNS server from previous host company to VodaHost DNS server.

Now it displays Current Service as 'Our DNS Servers'. Was this the correct action to take to correct the above situation? The tutorial for this shows different screens and actions.

Questions:

1. In VodaHost, under 'My Domains', 'Registered' it shows my domain name. However, under 'Domains Hosted', shows no domains being hosted. I paid for one year of hosting, what does this mean? Is there an action on my part that needs to be taken?

2. At this point, is there any actions @ VodaHost account I need to take to get things on track and operational? i.e., on my account under Domain Control Panel, DNS Settings, anything that needs to be done here?

You need to point it to the dns listed in your welcome email.

Okay, did you receive a welcome email from VodaHost when you signed up for hosting? If no, go to support.vodahost.com and submit a ticket. If yes, did you point the domain to the name servers listed in that email?

No, i did not receive a welcome message from Voda. I received the following info upon contacting them:

You can use the below details to publish:

IP: 74.52.36.2
Username: xxxxxxx
Password: xxxxxx
Folder: public_html

Is this what you are referring to? and if yes, where and how do i input it?

From your message, I assume my next step is to simply upload my webpages and they will be functional?

You can upload at any time, but they will only be viewable when your
DNS propogates, this can take from 1 to 48 hours. Since it is a Sunday
and huge holiday, it should be pretty fast.

I can already see your site in Italy. The page you have uploaded though is not called "index" but "1index" and it won't come up unless you click on it in the directory content
