Thread: publishing problem

Hi, I'm Suresh Nair (customer ID 7716), I'm currently hosting the site www.debestevakanties.nl on Voda Host. I've been assigned the IP address 74.52.42.242 for publishing my web pages. For some reason Blue Voda gets stuck and doesn't react when I try to publish - so I have to end the program and can't publish.

Any helpful suggestions?

Hie Suresh - are you getting any error messages?

Hi Amanda,

Thanks for replying...no, it just gets stuck and finally Windows tells me that the program is "not reacting".

Any ideas?

I'm not sure but giver these a try - see if they help:

1) Reboot your pc.
2) Close down everything else that you don't need to be running and have a try.
3) Check your firewall settings to make sure it's not being blocked.

Come back if you are still having problems. :o)

Now I know why you have like a zillion posts...people like me bug you with their questions all the time! Well I re-booted and closed down eveything, but I still can't publish. Now it says Internet Exception Error 12002, Operation Timed Out. Unlike the War in Iraq. Perhaps its my firewall settings indeed. Will check this carefully & try again.

Thanks again for your help! At this rate I'm going to be climbing the military ranks myself.

No worries - try this, courtesy of *****:


A 12002 error is not a bug! It is a Issue on your end.

A 12002 error is a timeout error. You might also receive this error
if you are trying to publish to the wrong IP address. Otherwise you
are receiving it because you are trying to upload a very large file, or
your internet connection speed is very slow.

The first thing you will want to do is run a pix resizer over all your
photgraphs to compress their size:

After you have done this, if the problem persists, try the below
work around:

1. In windows go to Start, select run and type: Regedit
2. Find this key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BlueVoda 7\BlueVoda 7\Publish\
3. Add a new DWORD value with the name ConnectionTimeout
4. Enter the value in seconds for example 360 (default is 30)

Try this.....

1) Open up blank page and save it as test.
2) Can you publish it?

One small note about the ConnectionTimeout registry hack: that registrykey is no longer used.

You can now change that setting from the BlueVoda menu:
Tools->Options->Publish->Connection Timeout. 120 seconds should be enough, unless you are publishing a very large file.

I reset my firewall and security specs on my PC, then re-set my router and re-booted my PC for good measure. It worked! I can publish again. Later tonight I will reset my connection specs as Amanda & you suggest,
