    Exclamation Overlapping Text??

    Hi Everybody,
Can you guys please take a look at this website that I'm working on? My client says some of her text are overlapping. My browser is showing everything just fine (or I wouldn't publish). What are you guys seeing?
    www.sabahbatiks.biz

Also, let's say the text are overlapping, how do I correct that without being able to see the overlapping myself? Could it be her screen display, if so, how do I help her adjust this? I know, too many questions right? It's just that I'm not very technical...

I use the opera browser and could see NO sign of text overlapping.

You might want to spell: "contact us for assitance." to assistance

Thanks David. I had a friend of mine check it out too, and she didn't see what my client is seeing. I decided to widen my text boxes to losen the texts a bit. Maybe they were too tight and because of that some decided to move to the next line or something...I don't know, does that make sense? You've heard of people bursting out of their tight-fit clothing right? Why NOT text? lol

A good rule of thumb is to use tables as much as possible, tables
will add structure to your webpage.

Thanks. I've downloaded the form making and will try it on my next web project. I'm too tired right now to read the instructions.

Will keep that in mind. I've used tables on one of the other sites I designed. You are right, it did help with the structure. You can check out that page at www.almadina1.biz/shop.html

This is my fourth VodaHost site. Here are the other ones
www.designsbymapillar.com - I've been told to vamp this up a bit, but I like simplicity

    www.designsbymapillar.com/gyc - my clothing website featuring e-commerce

www.almadina1.biz - with this one, I did some flash work...LOVED IT!

    Hope you like these too!

Hey ...those are really great sites with obviously a lot of work that has gone into them.. Your use of flash was great. One thing I noticed...align your test and picture box after you entershop on Almadina site...it was off in Netscape that I was using.

I'll certainly be picking you brain in the future on flash issues. Just Fab.

Could you please be a little more specific about the problem with Almadina's site? A friend of mine said something about the "r" in "Enter" (to Shop). But I can't see that on my browser. So, please specify with as much discription as possible so I can take care of that.

After entering the Store (ENTER TO SHOP) - you have a nice flash thingy (yes that's my tech talk...'thingy') and underneath it a text box that in red. At first I thought ...(being a bit **** about stacking things ina row) ...that you should have the box aligned beneath the image box BUT now I look at it and it seems to fit. You may have meant the page to look like that and that's fine.
I guess it's all personal preference...unless you meant for it to be aligned, then you'll need to fix it...lol.

HAve I confused you even more?

    Back to the batik site?

However you finally decide to format your text (box, table, etc.), allowing for proper margins is a must, and this site needs to be adjusted for balance by creating acceptable margins: background to page, page to text, text layout within "area"....make it flow, not so "soldiered"/rigid/boxy for ease of view by visitors: shouldn't it be complimentarty to the Main Concept (batik)??

The text on the menu buttons overlaps slightly at the top. Its not too noticeable but once you know about it your eyes are drawn to it.

bzzz, I have a marque underneath the flash and it's not red (it's actually green). I wonder why it's coming up that way? And WHY can't I see it that way?
    Any help? Anyone?

Hey Roy, I saw that and it shows before publishing. there are a couple of reasons i left it as such. 1. a smaller font size will them a little difficult to read (+ it doesn't really look nice) 2. that look gives a sort of rustic/renegade/in line with the whole concept of batiks (beautiful and abstract but no clean cut). do u understand what i mean, or did i overanalyze?

I thought i did that, Vasili. However, please be just a tad bit more specific (pages, images) and i'll try and look at things from your perspective. I do really like what I going on, though, and i am not saying that i will change anything. However, if your critiques appeal to my more and make more sense then i might give it a shot. how does that sound?

The only over lap I can see is on the menu bar as mentioned before. Some of your text is very close to the edge of your background panels. I have made my site viewing with explorer, but if I switch to firefox, some of my text moves a fraction of an inch & can be over the edge of my background panels. So if you are using a text box its worth keeping them in a little from the edges.

    Good luck

    Chris

Sabah Kunle is a textile designer whose creativity in batik design is strongly influenced by her life in the West Indies.

This is what I was referring to:
The above is your first sentence in your Home Page text area, and there is hardly any space (margin) anywhere between the actual text and the edge of the purple "box".....

    ************************************************** ****************
    *
*....... If this is the "edge" of the purple color object that doubles as a "page" then you * can see how I have allowed a "margin by mimicing a space here.....

This might be visually occuring due to using the text box itself with a purple background rather than laying a transparent background textbox over a purple "object"?? Does this make sense now?
You can "float" text over a colored square, for instance, to make it look like a Page, and by doing so, create many wonderful effects (not being square, offset, linear, etc.)
