    Default Publishing

I've tried to resolve this by going thru the forum but could not. My account was activated on 23 May.

I've created my site and published it (I think). When I published, I got the message that the pages were accepted.

Now What? Checked the web and my site is not up. I'm sorry, but I'm a comlete newbie in this. Please assist me in the next step.

    My domain is www.smartwindshieldrepairs.ca

    Simple.
Double-check that you have properly titled your main page as "index"...just that, small i and without any extension....
All Main Pages MUST be saved (in BV) and titled that way. Check, and fix + republish, and come back here for us to see.

Again....when you have Blue Voda open, and your Main Page opened (displayed) in the BV browser, click on EDIT > SAVE PAGE AS > index
...this properly saves the page to your BV folder

Then, PUBLISH... do not add any extensions or endings!
...it will be published to your public directory as usual.
DO this and let's see what happens!

Looking into the ".ca" angle...I saw something elsewhere, and I'll be back...ok?

When you did your "home" page in BV did you "save it as" index..??..and when you did your menu links it should be like this ... http://www.smartwindshieldrepairs.ca/index.html

Even the tinyiest spelling mistake or a dot in the wrong place can make a big difference

A whois search shows that http://www.smartwindshieldrepairs.ca/ is not a registered domain. When and from whom did you purchase your domain?

No. In page properties, I just listed the home page as index. I think I followed the BV tutorial in this regard.

    Hey Burnman

Are you sure this is your link. I just quickly checked this link on netfirms and it says IT IS available.

Yes it is correct. I noticed the same as you and I thought maybe it has taken BV a while to register my domain. All the documents I received from BV have the website spelled correctly as listed. When I enter into the cpanel, it says "welcome smartwindshieldrepairs.ca"

You need to go to http://support.vodahost.com ASAP and submit a support ticket. (You don't need to sign in to submit a ticket.)

    General, Sir!

How is it I couldn't even find the current WHOIS with Network Solutions, GoDaddy, VH, Domain Avenue, or even Pimpin Domains?
They all said the extension ".ca" was unsupported? That is why I attempted to approach Burnman's dilemma in the most basic fashion....

OK, I've done that. Is this the reason my site is not publishing.

Sure sounds like it to me, although Vasili might be on to something with the .ca extension as well. Have you tried using the temporary url listed in your welcome email to see if the pages show up that way?

Yeah, submit a ticket if you haven't already and mark it with a high priority. Also keep an eye on the forum as ***** may swing through with a solution for you.

I got published. The problem was my site registration. There was a loop for the .ca registration that I did not complete and therefore I could not publish. Thanks for all you help. Have a look at my site. I just started with the basics and will improve as I have time. Comments, good or bad, will be welcome.

    Red face Re: Publishing

I want to publish an initial construction page and have two build - one with MS Publisher and One built with word. How do I import them in to BV?

I think my question was legitimate for a novice. Many of us have used other programs from the MS family for years and are very new to BV. I found that it is not quiet as simple as advertised and so I wanted to get my site up and running to take advantage of the email and then perfect my site. I don't feel your answer was appropriate....

    tjaxsun,
Vasili was not being harsh, rather just trying to point you in a direction that would have benefited you more. At the top of this forum is a section
-Promote your website. This section is dedicated to looking at ones site and offering advise on how things are looking and working. That's all.

Don't sweat it. Alls good. There is lots to learn here on the forum and with web-building in general.

    See ya on the forum

Hello everybody. I'm experiencing a similar problem. When I attempt to publish, which is said to have been successful, when I view my page I merele see the following:
    Index of /

Name Last modified Size Description Parent Directory 16-Jul-2006 17:16 - Apache/1.3.36 Server at www.national1916.com Port 80

Any ideas? I've tried the .ca thing (without knowing what it is) and have reconfirmed my home page as saved in BV as index.

For the benefit of others, the above issue as originally posed by Burnman about his domain isse with the ".ca" issue dealt with a domain extension not supported by most providers here in the US, as it is for Canadian registered websites.....Brunman later (in other threads) discovered his account and domain had been improperly named, which was later corrected.

Do not try to duplicate the solutions mentioned, as they will not apply to you!

    >> Whenever you publish your website in BV and then see only the "Index" page, this is most likely because the DNS settings have not been changed for the domain you have elsewhere. And, if you have transferred your domain to VodaHost, it is most likely still in the process of being transferred.....be patient!

    Sally,
Try saving again and then publish. Check the spelling sometimes its easy to overlook a letter. Is http://www.national1916.com/ your page?

It is indeed my infant site. The problem was domain transfer. Not quite walking yet but certainly crawling confidently.
