Thread: how long does google take to index?

I submitted my sitemap to google a week ago and it is still not indexed. People told me to be patient, but I am just looking for a general answer: am I looking at like a week or 2 months for google to do this? How long does it generally take?

I'd appreciate an answer!

I haven't got a clue. I have built a few sites. Sometimes it's taken a week and sometimes much longer. I don't worry about as I know it will be picked up. I've even tried submitting the url but for me it doesn't make it any quicker. I don't bother now.

There is no general answer to this one.............Google does what google wants.
But the more backlinks to your site, the better.

I am not trying to push the Showcase, but the last time that I looked, several of the sites that joined the list were listed on google within a matter of days.
Try to get as many backlinks as you can(especially from established sites)but you will have to be patient........

Yes.. and post your link in your signature. If you dont link.. they wont find u

I've had it happen within a few hours, to a few weeks. I think it mostly depends on backlinks.

Sorry karen we are not all as good as u and your 5 stars u make it un comfortable to post about anything sometimes. I was always told that there is no such thing as a stupid question, but there are plenty of bad answers.

You're right, there is no such thing as a stupid question and hopefully you look for a brilliant answer, that's real nice...

I think google changes up monthly, or so it seems to me .... just my opinion ....
