Also, you might want to set the priority of your pages and how often you want search engines to update your site in their directory. Just ask your self, "How often will I change this page." For example, an 'about us' page would probably only be changed every month or year.

I have gone through the process as per the tutorial to get the sitemap published by then Google comes up with "Empty Sitemap Your Sitemap does not contain any URLs. Please validate and resubmit your Sitemap" - what does this mean and what do I do next? |

What is your URL? Are all of your pages published?

I have got as far as generating the sitemap but then the next step is as below and I just don't know what to do (never having seen any of this stuff before). Now you need to upload your sitemap to your server. If your server supports PHP or ASP, we can help you further. We have scripts that will ease the task of providing new sitemaps to Google. Alternatively, you can upload the file manually yourself. YOur help appreciated |

Use " Upload Manually" Copy/Paste the info into notepad Save the document as sitemap.xml into your BlueVoda folder Open the web builder: Tools/FTP manager Click on "Connect" Enter password/username/correct IP# From the window on the left navigate to your BlueVoda folder Drag the sitemap.xml file into the public_html file in the right hand window. Create a link i.e. sitemap "http://www.yoursitename.com/sitemap.xml will be the URL and place it on your index page. Save Publish If you have BV 10 there is a sitemap too/ built into the Tool dropdown.

I am as far as "create a link" - but to what, how? I have 10.1 and have gone through the process of copy/paste into the html editor on the relevant page(es)- but google still says verification failed. |

Sorry Terry - but I am totally lost (and I am embarrased to say so). How do I create a text link? I need to see the steps on this. Is this not a really good topic for a video tutorial? |

go to making a sitemap on bluevoda, then click 'start crawler' and after it lists your pages, click the 'publish' button.

Also, after you clicked 'start crawler' and it finished crawling, click on each individual page and set a priority and time frame that the website will change. Then click 'publish'.

Nope - I then go through to Google and get this message Verification status: NOT VERIFIED We've detected that your verification file returns a status of 404 (Not found) in the header. Google state that I must upload an html file - what does this mean? Open an html box in the index page and paste the code in then publish? That's what I have done but the failed message comes up. |
