Site description. Your opinion please

Hi there,
I've been reading a lot about optimizing the page descriptions and maybe I should change mine.

At the moment is:
New Zealand Tours. New Zealand coach tours for small groups.

I was thinking of changing to:
NZBR Tours will organize your tour in New Zealand while you simple prepare yourself to have the time of your life.

Any problems regarding the use of my main keyword? (new zealand tours)
Any problems regarding taking a while for google to notice the change and send me way back in the rank?

Any ideas?

I dont think that that would be much of an improvement........

1) Keywords, keywords, keywords.....no more than 3 or 4 good ones.......

2) choose a good title for your page(include 2 or 3 good keywords)

3) use the title (keywords) in your page description plus another sentence
relevent to page content.

That should improve matters.........

No 5 on the first page using just:

Note that my boat for sale is also listed 5 or 6 other times on that first page............

Just asking because i was reading in some forums where people say that the description should sound fluent, or better, like an attractive add for the readers, and not only key words. Does it make sense?

Content should attract readers............

keywords
title
page description

relevent to content
are all for the search engines................

Hi NZBR

You are very right in thinking that your page titles are important. I have been a copywriter for a large website for years, and see page titles as microcontent.

A a good page title can lead to a person clicking on your site in the SE results rather than someone elses.

Sometimes it's a good idea to change your title if you have a super-special deal running for a while. (People might be enticed to click on your site if they see you have 25% off a tour for example.) Do this only if the content of your title is reflected in the content of the page.

It's like a form of advertising.

Of the two examples you give, I think it's best to keep 'New Zealand tours' at the start of the title - but there's no need to repeat it twice. The rest of the title should sound engaging to people looking for NZ tours & include your other major keyphrases for that page - around two other key phrases.)

I imagine there's a lot of other sites doing NZ tours, which makes it more difficult to get your site on the first page of SE results - which means more work & testing for you, rather than if you had a product/service which was more obscure.

I was not talking about the title. I'm happy with the one I have at the moment. I was talking about the description. I know that it has to be engaging like you said and have a couple of keywords in it.
Maybe a bit of a mix between both:

New Zealand tours. NZBR Tours will organize your tour in New Zealand while you simple prepare yourself to have the time of your life.

What do you think,

i think its nice. if you could get more exciting words than "the time of your life" i think these words are too used (or rather overused). Something more catchy ir required to hold your viewer.

I'm going cross-eyed spending too long at the 'puter I think! I saw title tags mentioned there somewhere (aah - in the second post) Sorry about that!

Ok - description - yes, I think your new description is far better than your old one. It is much more enticing.

(Don't worry about descriptions in regards to Google. Write them for people only. Google won't 'send you back' in the SE results for changing your description. There's also no problem with using your key phrase/words there. It's whatever makes the most sense for people looking for NZ tours.)
