Google NZ, page 1. Google AUS, page 8. Why?

Hi there,
Have done all my homework (I hope so!) and my site is on the first page in the second position for its main keyword: 'new zealand tours'. That's in NZ.
For google usa it's on the third page.

When I go in google australia it's on the 8th page. Australia is our main market and having a site well positioned is a must. I guess it has to do with the time the site is on line and how often it is updated. Mine has been on line for 3 years and updates happen at least once a week. I've notices that the ones in front are much older.

Is this just a matter of keeping up with what I've been doing and wait?
Any ideas?

Hi, haven’t gone through all the pages, but can’t see much that refers to Australia on you site to attract that market. Might be one reason Google’s not making it so strong in the SE rankings in AU. Maybe you could do with some 2 way links in AU.
Couldn’t see your site on Google UK.

Actually there's nothing that refers to Australia or the Uk in the site.
So what you are saying is that I should contact some tour business in Australia and the UK and try to exchange links with them?

It certainly cant do any harm. You will quite likely have to have a link back to them.

As Chris mentioned in his first reply, you dont seem to have much on Australia.............

Why dont you devote a page filled with articles on/about Australia......

or FAQ's from Australian clients, anything that mentions the keyword "Australia"..............

or a travel guide from Australia to your country....etc.

What do you mean about the <h6> tag. I've read in some of the posts that this one should be your last tag with some important info. Am I wrong?

H6 tag is usually the last and smallest header tag............would have to look at the page again............or leave it to Chris....................lol
