Google vs Vodahits

Experience or knowledge needed.

I am currently coming to the end of my time with current employer, and am hoping to move into the lonely world of self employment. To that end, I am building a business website for myself as we speak. I intend to go online properly in Feb next year.

I have a question reference submitting to search engines and costs.

For example, i like the look of vodahits and will probably use it and pay for the whole year. But, I also like the look of Google adwords. The problem i have is this,

I was probably going to pay between £100-£200 (approx $200-$400) per month to Google to use their system (adwords i think) for hits to my site. But, vodahits is ALOT cheaper.

What is the difference? By difference i mean, the fact that i pay google per hit, will this mean more hits? If i were google, i would certainly want to make money, rather than another company doing the work and taking the money.

Also, is it worth doing both? Or will this be detrimental.

Basically, i am asking advice on vodahits vs google, and ultimately hits to my site.

You need to do both...a multi pronged approach is always best.

Well theres hits.. and then theres HITS.. what you want is targeted traffic and before purchasing either one you need to optimize your site and then learn what they each do and how to use them.

You can get HITS all day long.. that doesnt equal buyers or clients.

OK, i understand that, but surely hits all day is what everyone wants? Then it is up to the site to sell?

Yes.. NO.. kinda.

If you get enough people that stay more than 2 seconds theoretically yes a certain number would buy. Its No good getting 199999999999999 visitors and 12 buyers.

What you want is about a two to five percent ratio of vistors to buyers so you target the traffic its better to have 100 visitors and ten buyers isnt it? SO if you PAY for an ad, and it tweaks the interest and then you dont deliver it to the viewer in a couple of seconds you paid for a WORTHLESS hit.

Which would you rather do pay for 100000 hits at 5 cents a hit rather they buy or not, or optimize your site for a targeted ad that roughly 2 out of 100 hits buy?

Yep understand. Not going to go down the Google way to start with, possibly in the future when I start to see my MASSIVE profits. :)
