sitemap not recognised by google

Hello,
I followed all the steps and published my websites sitemap.
upon submitting it to google, i get the message below.
Any help please? cheers
Your search - http://www.alexanderhitek.com/sitemap.xml - did not match any documents.

id have to assume since you are using search that you mean its not INDEXED.. not the same as verifying with webmaster tools.

well I followed the online tutorial of how to create a sitemap and the 7th command

7) After your sitemap is complete, click here to submit it to Google. __________________

at the click here I put http://www.alexanderhitek.com/sitemap.xml

and get

Your search - http://www.alexanderhitek.com/sitemap.xml - did not match any documents.

I dont know what you are following. Thats indexing. Not verifying your site map

I am trying to follow video tutorial number 34.
Following to the lase detail
and the 7th instruction says
7) After your sitemap is complete, click here to submit it to Google.
when I click it gives me an error message.
so indexing does not work for me .and how do I verify my sitemap?

what video number where?

You have to login to google webmaster tools to give them the URL to your sitemap.

how can i login to google webmaster? is this something I can do in BV?

no.. you have to go to google.com create an account, add webmaster tools and do it there. that just shows if youve been indexed or not.. thats not submitting the website.

The link that goes to is no longer a valid link, thats why you are getting NO results with it.

Ha! I just did, and google already has my website as verified in webmaster. I dont know when that happened! Is there anything like this I can do on other search engines , like yahoo for eg? there is even a $100 coupon sitting there waiting for me to use which I knew nothing of!

i put the path to my sitemap in my head section of my index page and it does away with having to submit to any of them.

like I open my index page, open the html of the page, and then in the head section insert the path of my sitemap? If so exactly what do I type? As I dont know how to write html
