Default Applying .png images to my site

    Hallo,

I was told by VodaSupport Help Desk that: "BlueVoda does not support .png images". Their Solution: You will need to upload the .png image with an FTP program then insert the image with HTML.

    Q&A followed:
Q 1: What is an FTP PROGRAM?
    A: Go to: http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/saving-naming-previewing-publishing/9366-how-use-blueftp.html

Q 2: How do I do (what you suggested)?
A: Please read the below on editing HTML: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_images.asp

    PROBLEM, NEEDING HELP:
I have done Q1 successfully - no problem, but I cannot manage to "insert the image with HTML". The suggested tutorial is GREEK to me; meaning unclear and not very user friendly. Can anyone help me with this HTML coding?

    Kind Regards,
    Hennie

Hi, place a html box on your BV page & insert this code bellow with your image url that you uploaded.

    <img src="your image url place here">

    Press preview to test.

    Hallo Chris,

Thank you very much for your reply & advise. How do I know what my "image url" is?

    Hallo Chris,

I assume that you meant the FTP file manager and not the actual Blue Voda Control Panel?

I have tried now about everything possible and it does not work. I am not sure what I am doing wrong...

The HTML code should be (according to your advice): <img src="ftp://74.86.118.18/public_html/PNGLOGO/LCRPNGLOGO.png">

Do you pick up anything in this that looks incorrect?

    Thanking you in advance!

    Hi Chris,

Thanks - it seem that I have succeeded 95&#37;. When I upload my page on Internet Explorer, the png image DOES APPEAR while all the files are busy uploading/downloading... But as soon as the page is 100% uploaded, the png image dissapears....

    What do I do wrong?

    Thanking you in advance again!

I am going to suggest renaming the image and see if this helps.
I use .png images alot, and I insert them in the very same way on my page as I do a .jpg image.
I have imported your page and published it as it came in, your png image (lifechange logo) is, I assume, the image in question .. it shows up on my page for me, while on your page it doesn't show up, it does exactly what you say it does. So I am not sure why, but I would try renaming it and reinserting and republishing ...

you can see my page here www.bluevodadesigner.com/retreat.html your logo appears

Your "Welcome To" is also a .png image and appears to load fine and stay in position on your page ..

Oh, and I should mention it was a direct republish of your page, you will notice one of the jpegs show, and you will notice two red x's for the other two images, if you check the names of the images as to how they were imported, you will notice the % symbol in it's name, that too tells us something about image names.

Hi, i just noticed that you said VH said that BV didn't support png files. I thought this was sorted out on the updates to the BV program a long time back. I have just made this quick test page up using png static images & also with the gallery feature. All seems to be working fine. Let me know if you can see the test page page ok.
Sorry about the loading times, i haven't optimized them .

    Hi all,

Look in your ftp for a html file called pngfix.***, I believe this is BV's fix.

    Hi all,

You won't believe me!? I went through so much trouble with HTML applications and the rest. But what I've done now was to simply rename my png file to one word and apply it normally as I would have applied a jpg file and guess what!? Look at www.lcretreats.com! The Helpdesk originally said to me that BV does not support png files and now it does!? Sjoe, I've waisted so many hours!..... ai....

Can I ask you one last thing? I am in need of a free downloadable image programme that has the following abilities:

#1. I need to NEATLY line cut/crop a photo, e.g. of a person on that photo and apply it to a different background....
#2. To resize all my photos to the same file size and width & length size...

    Any suggestions?

    Thanking you in advance!

    or this one: link

This is paint.net, and it is free, and does almost all the things Photoshop does, works quite well, will easily do the things you mention.

    good luck
