Thread: Make a drop shadow on a colored background?

Hi!

I've found a website that I like visually. Mainly, all the elements are in a white box. The box is surrounded by a light shadow that blends into a pastel background that spans the browser screen.

You can probably guess my question: How can I do that? The shadow I try with gif or jpeg knocks the usual white area out of the background.

I'm at clamcentral.com but there's nothing there relevant to my question.

Thanks Andy! I figured it out in both Corel and (my personal fav) Xara Xtreme. I'm learning I should have my morning wake-up coffee BEFORE I post questions. :)

Well can you tell me also how to make a drop shadow?..

You have to do it in a photographic program that allows layers. Then you take you image and over lap it a little and then blur the bottom image.

Takes a little doing but can be done if you have worked with these type programs before. Paint.net is a free program and they have a forum that has many tutorials for such projects.
