    Default Too many images?

    Hi!

I'm trying to make the site 'lighter' and went to one of these sites which analize yours. Here is one of the advices: "Up to 27173 bytes could have been saved through compression".

Question: what do they mean by 'compression'? shall I reduce the number of images as well?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi nzbr,

    Use the free PIXresizer.

Open the program and select Jpeg
A window will appear with a slider.

Use the slider to reduce the pixels to 60% of the original.

If you place all the pics in one folder, you can do multiples at one go by selecting the folder.

Good compression software is a lot more sophisticated than just a pixresizer. But thats another subject that gets quite involved, & pixresizer is fine for normal web pages. You could reduce the amount of images on the pages by using alternative methods for things like text boxes/framing areas. But as for 27173 bytes it not a lot to worry about (26kb).

Thanks Chris. I was a bit concerned of having too many pictures!
In another topic I'm asking about drop down menu...

Do you know if they are as good as the text links (regarding SE's to find them, etc)? They are important key words and I don't want to take any chances changing them to 'drop down'.
