    Default Easiest (free) photo editor?

I need a photo editing program that will allow me to separate an image from the background in a picture. Something easy would be nice. And free, if possible. If not, then maybe a free trial.
What I'm wanting to do is make a header for my web pages. I want to take am image of a person off of one background and place it on my header background. Can anyone suggest an EASY (Dummie) program??

Quite a few on the forum use paint.net as a good freebie.

If you are using windows goto start>Accessories>Paint.

Make a cutout of the subject, square, rect or eclipse then use the eraser to erase all the unwanted parts>Select All>Copy and paste it whereever you want to use it.
