Talking Locking Images To Prevent Copying

Marc Sanders

www.fakeitbikinistore.co.uk

Guys and Gals,

Help is required once again...

I have been granted the rights to use Photographs from my supplier on my site. But this doesn't extend to people copying them for other uses if you know what I mean!

I have tried coming up with a way that the photos cannot be copied, but this is very difficult as I overlay a shape then set it to transparent.

This is not ideal as I then need to ensure this shape links to the correct pages (Yet more work).

Any simple Idea's will be very much appreciated...

Cheers

There are no simple ideas.....this has been discussed over and over again with having reached a solution.

If you dont want it copied, dont put it on the internet.....

thats about the best solution that I have seen in all other
threads on this subject.

Do a search on copying or protecting pictures and you will see what I mean.

Hmm, not quite what I was looking for - but hey, it will have to suffice!

I have seen web sites where images are locked out, and have managed to do it the long way round with Voda. I was just hopeing for an easy method as I have close to 4000 images...

Thanks all the same...

Someone posted a tip the other day suggesting making the images rollover images with the rollover set to an image of text with a no copy warning. David's right, of course, if people are determinded - they will get them but this may put some of them off.

If you own the images, consider using a watermark say along the edge where it will still allow users to enjoy your images.

That was me on the mouse over.

No, there is no guaranteed method, but this is a possibility including the watermark on your photo. You use a solid color pic or any picture and could include text or not. You could just leave it blank. When the viewer puts the cursor on to save it, it mouses over to a solid blank color or wording "Sorry, copyrighted" or whatever. It's worth a try.

Even if you do a "No right click" thing, its not hard to overcome, you just do a print screen and get the pics from that.

Yeah your right, but there is no harm in everybody knowing, so that they know the pitfalls and what they are up against when sitebuilding.

Your both absolutly right and even then you just have to look in your cache
and there they are in all their glory........

Also I have seen a site that has watermarked All the photos and it looks horrible. With a little work one can also get rid of the watermarks....

Life sucks as far as photos are concerned...........The rectangle overlay is my method, but even then its not foolproof....

good luck with your 4000................

I have just put a copyright warning and hopefuly this may scare a few off and at least that way I can get them if I see my work somewhere later...although this probably is'nt foolproof either. Sigh....

Its not too difficult to remove the text from pics, but it is a deterrent.

Marc:
The clear over sounds great and easier than encryption. Thanks for the tip.
