Default Linking with Navigation Buttons

How do I get my navigation button links to actually link together? I have the url entered that I want it to go to, but it only says "page not found" when you try to click the navigation button?

Hey saggi,

Thanks for the tutorial link, but I was already doing all that stuff. My trouble isn't with creating the navigation button, or even with where to enter the url or target information for it. My trouble is that for some reason.... it's not using the information that i'm giving it, and I'm not sure why.

In order for the nav links to work, the target pages have to be published to your account. Be sure that the urls for the links exactly matches the page names when published.

hi juda,

ok.. so here's the domain name i have http://www.fls-riders.com . I have only built one of the target pages thus far. That page is "roster". I have entered the target url as http://www.fls-riders.com/roster.html . Is this correct?

OH, and I published that particular link page too... Am I supposed to put something in the "target" field? I have put the url link in the url field, and filled in the name for ppl to see. I've also filled in an alternate name field (for the users that can't see the buttons to use)--I've found too that filling in this causes it not to change color when you mouse over it, any suggestions on that?? I'm just not sure if I'm supposed to do anything with the target field... the one that says "_self, _parent", etc. Any help on this would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi, have a look at this link & see if you can see the problem?

Okay, so on that page... it links to the home page good. The home page doesn't link to that page good. Could it be because the url is called http://www.fls-riders.com/Roster.html and not http://www.fls-riders.com/roster.html ? I have the link set up for the second, but the page seems to be set up for the first?

No, I don't think that's it because I renamed the file to match... and it's still not working. So, I'm at a loss....

I noticed somehow or other, you were able to get it to say "FLS_Riders", as a title when you rest your mouse on the banner... I get "untitled page" when I do that on mine. Hmm... maybe this is it?

Hi, if http://www.fls-riders.com/Roster.html
is the correct link. Then change the link on the home page to this & not
http://www.fls-riders.com/Roster.html
Its best to get into the habit of doing all urls in lower case for all your naming of pages & links to the page.
There are other reasons for this, but wont drive you mad with the reasons.

OK..Time to take a deep breath and relax, LOL! Sometimes these linking problems can really have you going around in circles, (I done a few round-a-bouts myself!).

What has happened, is that you "published" the Roster page with a capital "R". It is a good practice to get into the habit of not using caps or spaces in your file names and linking! So, do an "open file" in your BV, but when the window opens showing all your files; right click on "Roster" file and select "rename". Rename it to "roster". Now, open it into BV and "publish" it. This will make the nav button on your home page work! Be sure to check any other links to "roster" page that they don't have the capital "R".

Sorry Chris...I'm too slow again!! LOL

Ok... so, I got it... no capitals in the future. However, even renaming it to lowercase isn't helping this time. Did I totally screw something up??

It is working now, BUT you have to fix the Nav button url to this: roster.html

EDIT: Of course put your domain nane on the front of that!
