Default Newbie - Help with testing hyperlinking

Hello all

Would appreciate any help with the below. Am new to website building, so I do apologise if any questions seems too basic !

I've been building my site using the BlueVoda website builder. I'm nearly done, with just a few pages left to go. I want to test the site to see if the hyperlinks work. I notice you can't test this just by previewing the site in the Bluevoda website builder.

I have purchased and registered a domain name (not with blue voada), but have subscribed (yesterday) to the VoadaHost annual web hosting package.

Can anyone please advise how I go about testing my sites hyperlinks? I dont actually want to publish it yet.

Many thanks
Mahesh

I've just been reading some of the other hyperlinking answers, and it seems that the only way to test the hyperlinks is to publish your site. I just wanted to know, if you publish it, does it mean its going to be live ? As my site is not quite finished, I dont want it to go live just yet. Is this the only way to test the hyperlinking ? Thanks.

Hi, you cant fully test links until you are live on the web, as the URL can only be accessed via the web.

Hi Chris

Thanks for your reply.
Ok, if I publish my site to test the hyperlinks, how do I go about un-publishing it (ie. taking it off the net to work on it again) ?

Thankyou
Mahesh

Just edit it in BV, save and re-publish :)

Hi 007,

It dosent work that way. A lot of newbies before you had the very same idea in the past.

Just design a "Page under construction as your "Index" page and publish.
Then what ever new page you want to add on link it from the temporary
index page you publish.

Normally any surfer who sees a Page under construction will immediately
move away from your site.

2. To remove the temporary pages, just publish a new "index" page or delete from cPanel or use Blue Ftp.

Don't worry about someone accidentally stumbling across your site among the zillions out there. Don't give anyone the links and you'll be OK. In fact a month or 2 after publishing you will be asking why your site is not listed on the search engines yet !!! LOL

Hi guys

I need some help with my menu tabs. I hope someone is able to help ?

At the moment, I have eight tabs on my menu at the top. On the "Services" tab, I would like to a drop down menu bar which contains 3 more menu options. i.e "3 Months" "1 Month" & "2 Weeks".

I see that there is a menu bar function in the website builder which lets you do that, but the problem is the choice of styles is a bit limited.

Is there anyway to customise my existing tab style to add these 3 additional drop down menus for the "Service" tab ?

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Thanks for the link Chris.

I've had a quick look, and i'm sure there will be something in there that I can use for my menu.

Cheers !

You have to unfortunately dig around in the page source for the css sheet. If your not sure? pop a post back here.

Good luck.
