Unless you use web freindly fonts you will have this problem. What may look good on your computer will not on other browsers. Search the net for a list of web freindly fonts and stick with them for consistancy acroos all platforms.

you have another alternative. make your menu bar an image. you can either make each part a separate image or you can make one image. in each case you can use the font and size you would like then import the image to your page and link the images to create your menu bar. an example of this is: paintingmyrtlebeach.com or patsmelkoff.com in both cases the menu bar was made from an image and that way no matter which computor looks at it they see the font and design wanted. there are a few image making software programs out there or if you contact me through my website, i could see what you are trying to do and help you out. mrmagoo144 www.videopostcards.info |

However, changing your text links to images damages your chances of being found on the Net.

According with zuriatman and his fonts Web friendly list I have seen that on my PC (Windows XP Home) I have the following possibilities: - Arial - Arial Black - Comic Sans MS - Georgia - Impact - Lucida Console - Lucida Sans Unicode - MS Sans Serif - Palatino Linotype - Tahoma - Times New Roman - Trebuchet MS - Verdana Someone know if Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista offers more?

As far as the web friendly fonts....web friendly means that those particular fonts are on ALL COMPUTERS (every computer in the world) no matter what Operating System you are using and therefore view the same as what you see on your computer. I'm sorry but I do not understand your question in post #7.

SE's give a big boost to text links. They are considered to be very important. Javascript, graphics, photos used as links cannot be seen by SE's. I use javascript menus on several of my sites. Any of those sites that I want to be seen by SE's have a text menu footer also. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide.

i'm not sure if that is totally true. when you insert an image you have an alt text option. This gets you the opportunity to tell the SEarch engines what this is all about. Look you have to decide what is most important: 1. possible SEO results or 2. the look of your site. My choice is always looks of site because to get listed on the home pages of google, yahoo and MSN or any other search engines, it looks like you have to pay to get what you want. mrmagoo144 www.videopostcards.info |

You can use alt tags on the image but that is not near as important (SE wise) as a text link. Create a sitemap and think it over. Sure, looks are important, once your site is found. I am on page one on Google, Yahoo, MSN for my keyword(s) unpaid. Of course, I am more of a niche market. BTW, your menu is javascript and cannot be seen by SE's. I hope it works out well for you.

I understand that text is the better way to go with SE but I am wondering about setting hyperlinked text inside the bluevoda's "glass buttons" as a menu - the buttons are just a shape with text I am assuming and should be viewed as such by SE's? tamethatwildthing.com |

I'm pretty sure that the glass button with text is a javascript function which cannot be read by SE's. There is an easy work around. Put a text link footer on pages that have a js menu.
