Talking Creating Hyperlinks

Hyperlinks are text or images that can be clicked to bring the user to another web file such as a web page, images or any other file. They are the essence of the World Wide Web as they link pages within sites and web sites to other web sites. To create a hyperlink in BlueVoda, follow these steps:

Highlight the text or image that will be the link and select Insert->Link from the menu bar or pressing CTRL+K.
This will display the Insert Hyperlink window.

Link to another page
Enter the full URL (Internet Address) of the destination page in the URL box.
External URLs MUST begin with "http://" or they will not work.
For example, to link to the your home page, type "http://www.yourdomain.com/" instead of "www.yourdomain.com".
So if the page you want to link to is called products.html, you must enter: http://www.yourdomain.com/products.html

Link to a file
To link to a file so your visitors can download it from your web site, enter the complete URL to the file.
For example:
http://www.yourdomain.com/downloads/myfile.zip

or
http://www.yourdomain.com/mydocument.doc

Link to an email address
Select mailto from the Link Type dropdown list.
The URL box will automatically be updated with the mailto: prefix. Now enter the destination email address.
For example:
mailto:webmaster@yourdomain.com
or
mailto:webmaster@yourdomain.com?subject=Website Feedback

Open the link in a new window
To open the link in a new window you must specifiy the Target.

For example:
_blank (opens the link in a new window).
_self (open the link in the current frame)
_parent(open the link in the parent frame)

Bookmarks
Text and images can be set as bookmarks (also called "anchors") that can be linked to within a page. For example, if a page has seveeral new items, the news titles for each item can be set as bookmarks and a row of links can be added to the top of the page that will each skip down to those bookmarked sections. This method of using bookmarks allows visitors to your site to quickly access information by not having to scroll down the page to view the information they want.

You can create a Bookmark by using the Bookmark tool from the Insert menu and place it anywhere in the page. Make sure you give the bookmark an unique name. Once you have placed the bookmark icon on your page, it can be selected from the Bookmark dropdown list.

If you built the page in BlueVoda, it automatically converts to .html.

In the same area where you turn the text into a link, there is an option to edit how your links will look. When the link box opens, look toward the bottom, and under Appearance, you'll see a menu labeled Styles. From there, it's pretty simple to edit your links to look any way you like. Just make sure that if your style names contain more than one word, they are_linked_together_by_underscores.

First make sure you have downloaded BlueVoda 7.6.0

By default all hyperlinks in your webpage use the default HTML link colors (link:blue, visited:purple, active: red, hover:blue).

BlueVoda gives you the option to customize the way hyperlinks will be displayed in the browser by introducing the Hyperlink Style Sheet Editor.

1. Select Format|Hyperlink Style Sheet from the menubar
2. Click Add to add a new hyperlink style.
3. Customize the colors of the hyperlink by clicking on the appropriate link. A hyperlink has four states (linked, visited, active and hover) so you may have to change the color for all 4 states.
4. Give the style a nice name like 'cool_link'
3. Click OK to save.
4. Select a link and change the Style from the dropdown list to 'cool_link
5. Publish or preview the page to view the effect.

Note: the link styles become active when you publish or preview your page. BlueVoda will always show links in blue.

For all the Hyperlinks when you povide the web address that address is what your screen moves to. Is there any way to launch a new web screen while the original one is still displayed. For example one of my pages I have a photo that links to another web page that we use for registering individual for Email marketing. I would like to be able to click on that photo and have explorer lauch a NEW page(with the orinal not going away) instead of just being forwarded with the oringial exporer page.

I hope this make more sense.

Thanks for the quick response.
