Question Creating a hyperlink from a drop down menu in to a iframe

I use a drop down menu up to 3 levels down from main.
And I have inline frame in my page.
But I can not link my menus in to my iframe.
    How do I do?
And also I wonder if I have to create one page to each menu and level?
And what would the whole name look like?
For instace: Main menu "ABOUT US", drop down "GUIDELINES" which both should appear in my iframe.
I have created a template called MAIN.

Rest of the features are ok. :)

I have never used a program like this to create a website, but I am well familiar to using Microsoft Words. :)

    Best regards from Ida.

Hi, your iframe should have a name in the iframe properties box. (Lets say its called f1).
When you want a page/image to open in the frame, create the normal link as you would to any other page, but add f1 in the target field box.

    Good luck.

    Thanks!

My iframe is placed in my template.
    Inline frame properties; name, URL
Shall I then name i "if"? And what would the URL look like?
    The iframe is not alone....

Select "DIVERSE" from the menu on the left side, then select "X".

It is not supposed to be on this side, but I have put it ther for now, just to see. The address to the real site is built up at the same way as this.

I cannot see from your link, but reading your last question again, I think you might have linked to your BVP file and not your html file. Just check that link quickly.

Could you perhaps delete that html file on the server, then re-publish it? We'll figure it out just now...

Yep, I saw your problem just now. You are definately linking to your BVP file on your hard disk. This is what you are linking to "BV-hovedside-template.bvp"

You must link to the url (your html page that is already published). I trust that you know how to link...

Let me know about the progress.

I have just downloaded your bvp template onto my pc. It appears that you have uploaded your bvp file to the server and you are linking to it. Delete the bvp file from the server.

Before you publisk the page with the problem link, make sure about the linking. Type in the url, then publish.

Could it perhaps have something to do with my BlueVoda?

Every time I close BleVoda, I get a message: BlueVoda has encountered a problem and needs to close.

And when I open my BlueVoda map on my PC, and click on a page to open it, I get a mesage saying that "Can not find".
But when I open BlueVoda, and click on open an existing page, all is working proper.

    ns2.surf-town.net -> 212.97.132.12
    ns3.surf-town.net -> 212.97.129.67

Does that mean I can`t use BlueVoda?

But all your other links work, right? Try building a new page with a slightly different name. Copy the contents from the old page one by one, but publish and test after each copy and paste. Then link to the new html page.

Chris is right then. Have you taken it up with Customer Support yet? Are they planning to do something about your servers? Or are you stuck forever?

Chris, will SOHO also not work there?

I really cannot answer this as I don't know. Ask the Customer Support people. maybe they can give you an answer or maybe Chris can answer this one as he seems to know a lot.

Hi, Bluevoda is given out free to encourage users to join vodahost, which considering what you get is not a bad deal. But BV will only work with vodahost servers. Soho is also free with vodahost, but you would have to pay for it if used on other servers.
Best bet is joining VH. :)

Hate to be Johnny come lately, but it IS possible to hyper link from a drop down for an iFrame link. I have it running on my site... if you want to see
an example.. www.pvwebsolutions.com see webdesign which is a drop down menu. all items open within the iFrame. What I am having problems with is the last links... do not open and they were created the same way. I have torn down the pages, relinked, published and then torn them down again and started from scratch for "Management" and "home". There does not seem to be any rhime or reason why they do not work. They were all created in exactly the same way. I think it is a software glitch.
Unless someone has another suggestion, I will submit a support ticket.
    Thanks all.

Well I fixed "Home" . I didn't realize that I had to have the link to the iframe from "Home" be just the URL without a sub ..ie. index.
I have been busy working on another site and have not gotten back to it.
but "website management" "pricing" do not work. I deleted the rest that
didn't work. Actually I think with I get a minute I will tear down this webite and make it without iFrames. This was mostly an experiment to see if I could really get it all working. I have a customer that wants continuous music playing while the visitor cruises the site. Think I have her talked out of it. Any thoughts? About the iFrame, that is?
Tried to put in a support ticket and they said I should just go back to the forum. Needless to say, I am frustrated. There has to be a way! no?

Reading through the previous posts, all I can say is you have some mis-understandings about the intent and use of iFrames, and how they interact with other standard web design protocols and elements themselves (i.e. there are no "software glitches" present, only inappropriate use).

If you admit that this was all an experiment, then fine -- no need to warp the utilities beyond their intent or capabilities any further: try re-conceptualizing the site entirely, and within general Best Practices to attain best results.....

Kinda blunt, but sometimes you have to be. IMO

If you think I have a mis-understanding about the intent and use of iFrames, then please take a minute and explain it to me so that I do understand it.
My intent and reason for building the site using iFrames was/is 2 fold.
    1. Only wanted 1 navigation bar to update and change. (Thinking about a
a really large site down the road)
    2. Wanted to see if music could play continuously on the site WHILE navigating to other pages.

I got the idea for the post from this forum, as Andy123? has a sample site running. I experimented with all types of Navigation thru BV. Buttons,
    dropdowns, text links, etc.

All was going very smooth until I tried to add more navigation, the same as the previous, and the navigation to the iFrame started not working.
I tore down the iFrames, re-created. As with the content page that was to open in the iFrame.
Then I became very frustrated and thought maybe it was a software glitch and put in a ticket all for them to send me back to the forum.
So, here I am asking for advice and you tell me I don't understand the software.... then please enlighten me without slapping my hands!
    Gracias!

I will get back to you on this later on this evening ..... I am too slammed today (having a huge event, and I need to be on the floor to supervise).

I have multiple concrete examples to ilustrate various uses of iFrames, and how they can be used faultlessly for you to consider.

    Hola Vasili,
I am assuming that you are still slammed with projects as I haven't heard back from you. I really would like to see your examples of websites built properly with iFrames.

As luck would have it. I have either stumbled upon a workaround and or Fix as I now have all links on home page working as designed. Or, in spite of my unknowledge of the software have found a way to use it to suit my goal. Take a look if you like. As always, I will look forward to your input.
