Thread: Mailto: link acting strange

Hi there,

I made a few mailto: links on my site, but when I go and test them in the preview, something strange happens.
Yes, it does open my default mail programm with the right information, but, it also opens a blank web page?????????
I tried all different settings ei._blank, _parent, etc.

Anybody any thoughts?

Can you post the code you are using?

Hi Karen,
What I did was hyperlink nativetreasures@ntlworld.com and this is what it shows in the text html. I left the 'target' empty.

Email ; <a href="mailto:nativetreasures@ntlworld.com">

Hi Karin,
Not sure what is causing this other page to pop up. But the best wat is to place some text on the page with something like “Contact me” Highlight this text & click on the hyperlink button. Select mailto from the link type & place you email address after the mailto: letters in this field. Press ok & preview. IFf not cut & paste this below into an html box.

Thanks for your response.
I did what you suggested, but the same thing happens. My default mail program opens, together with a new TAB saying it cant connect to the internet?? (i know you cant because your not suppost too) lol

I don't know, hopefully it will all work ok once it's all up and running, I hope so anyway :)
