    Default my menubars

Can anyone who uses firefox offer me some help? My web site is under construction (using BV) but I have published it at www.gpteas.com

I have been cruising along tweeking my pages and adding cart manager buttons to the products. I don't usually use firefox but understand the need to make the site friendly to visitors from both IE and firefox. Last night I realized that my menu bar which works fine in IE, does not work in Firefox. This is an example of the problem on one of the pages:
    http://www.gpteas.com/demi_spoons.php
but it appears to be on all pages where info has been added. I have no idea how to correct this and would sure appreciate some help.

Hi, all seemed to work fine for me in FF. Might be worth checking your up to date with FF.

    Barbara,
It's not working properly - the flyouts are not showing all the words. Make sure that before you save and publish the page you click on the html box with the php include for the menu and bring it forward. Right now the center of the page is sitting on top of it - therefore when the fly outs come out - they hide behind. This should solve it.

My apologise Beth is right; I only checked the top one. As Beth says will & possibly solve the problem. Would also help to pull the handles out on the html box to make it wider. Some menus get trapped within the space if not pulled out. The only thing to watch out for is when you pull out the html box it doesn’t cover another link that would end up under the html box as you will be able to see it, but will stop you clicking on this.

    Good luck.

I agree about making the html box larger than the size of however the widest width will be on the flyout.

However, I wouldn't worry about it covering anything on the page - as that will only happen when they are hovering over it to click on a link. As soon as they move the mouse, the rest of the page should show properly. That's common when using flyouts.

Now - DO make sure you have a good site map - as the se's will not pick up these links.

    Hi,

No, the actual problem is that this type of menu bar is not compatible with FF. It will ONLY work if you use the DEFAULT theme under the Styles tab. All the other themes will cause the problem you have at the moment. Long time ago, I had same problem and I also helped pastormc to fix his exact same problem with this.

Change to default theme and you will be okay. Rather experiment with the colours, etc. See my menu.

Default my menu bar didn't work with firefox-DOES NOW!

I appreciated all of your suggestions very much and tried every one of them. Unfortunately I still had the same problem.

    1) I downloaded the latest version of FF

    2) I am using the DEFAULT Theme under the STYLES tab

    3) I brought the php menu box to the front, saved and published, no change

    4) Made the html boxes larger:
Wasn't sure which html boxes you were referring to so I tried pulling out the handles on the html boxes closest to the menu--didn't help
Then I enlarge the size of the php menu box on my template--didn't help

    5) Ah Haa! ---When I pulled out the handles on my php menu to twice the original size, it worked perfectly. That must have been the box you all were referring to! Since so much is published already, I am thrilled to have used Navals php instructions to do the header, menu, and footer.

Just writing to say thanks and clarify which "handles needed tweeked" to make the menu work in FF!

LOL, the nice thing I have found on looking for faults is the amount of little things you can learn on the way.
You got your site running so much faster these days, well done.

Bummer, It's still not right. I can see the entire menu and sub menu (yeah) but in FF nothing I have tried will make the images, html or text boxes take a back seat to them. They are overlapping in FF but not in IE.

    Any ideas?

Bump!! I thought so. You did not convince me about the handles and bring to front, etc. Please try the following with the Default Theme under the Styles Tab:
Do not use any Effects; Do not use Bold, Italic, Underline. Using colour is okay.
Just remove those and test again. I just want to see if these have any effect.....We will take it further once we know the outcome of this one.

I had same problems about 6 months ago and the only sollution I experimented with and that was successful was the default theme. None of the similar suggestions you received ever solved the problem.

    Tom,
Well I've just tried that too and still have the same problem in FF. Pulling out the handles on the menu php did enable me to see the sub-menus so I thought the problem was fixed.

    Any other ideas?

Well Tom, this is not very encouraging. I just looked at your site using FF and it is doing the same thing as mine. Had the menu worked in the past?

I have never used FF before and now I have no idea what to try

    Hi,

You gave me quite a fright there, but I have tested my menu in FF and all are working very well.

That makes me wonder. I have FF version 2.0.0.7. Could you check your FF version please? This is just guesing though while I'm doing some research here.

Just wait patiently for my reply then (a day or so) as I'm busy with a brand new website and its getting a bit busy here.

    Tom,
Sorry, family issues kept me away from this problem. My version of FF is 2.0.0.8., I just downloaded it last week.

I had changed the resolution on my laptop so that I could view it better outside and in the car. But outsmarted myself as I don't remember how to change it back. I am thinking that this resolution problem might be why the menu appears to not be working.

There isn't that much stuff on my laptop and I need it for a presentation next week so I think I will move my files and do a system restore this weekend and see if that cures the problem.

Especially since Beth says both of our menus are fine, I can't help but think it is my resolution problem. So sorry to give you a fright. I'll get back on this subject once my system is restored.

    Hi,

To change the resolution, just right-click on an open space on the desktop and select Properties. Open the Settings tab. I think you will know what to do from here.

    Good luck.

Well one would think that would work but I fear I really did a number on my system. The installed computer programs that I use all look fine. It is only after I go online with either browser that the resolution change shows up. Not much color at all. Outside it is now much easier to see what is on the screen but things like flags on emails don't show up at all.

It never occurred to me that it was affecting our menu bars in FF.

I remember being in the car when I made the change. The area I was in had a black background with the writing in white and some in RED. I should have written down the steps as I was going through them and don't really see any recourse except to restore. I have more learing experiences..............

A sytem restore to a restore point just before you made that chance, should do the trick.

With this system restore, you should not lose any data or work, but a friend of mine did lose all his work after a system restore due to something that was wrong with the pc.... rather backup first as I do not know anything about your pc....

But, if you made successful system resores on that pc before, you should have nothing to worry about losing date.

I'm about to take the plunge. We got this system last year to use when traveling. I really haven't used it that much. I am going to back up all my documents and say a prayer.

    Hi Tom,

System back up and running but I've been away from my work for several days. Oh the things I have learned this past week! I do see that your site menu works fine with FF. I also see that while my menu bar works OK I have a color problem which I will post in a more appropriate area. Thanks to all for your help.
