Have you watched the tutorails on navigation?
Your home page is
index - that is what you save it as and MUST be the name for that page - that then becomes your: http://www.yoursite.com with your site being your domain name).
Each other page - name it whatever you want. Say you name it
about
http://www.yoursite.com/about.html
etc etc
This is if you are saving your pages as html - if you are using php - then it would be:
http://www.yoursite.com/about.php
Thank you for your reply.
Just to make sure I got it right:
My home page is saved as "index" and the URL is www.xxxx.com.
If my 2nd page is "About Us" & I save it as "about_us" the URL is automatically set as www.xxxx.com/about_us.html ?

Good Morning.
I am proceeding further in building our site.
We are a retail store, creating a web-presence for the 1st time.
we have 15 categories of products, some of which have sub-categories.
When I create and save the sub-category pages, do I save them as
www.oursite.com/category/subcategory.html, going on the assumption that, if the category pages are www.oursite.com/category.html then the sub-categories would be 1 further step removed from the index page?
Many thanks.

You save them with whatever name you call them. I don't suggest you call anything "category" or sub-category".
For an idea - Look at my A Child's Palace site in my signature. Go to the desks, maybe - and you'll see each page has it's own name - it just matters that you link them properly. And try not to have any page more than 2 clicks from the home page if possible. ESPECIALLY important for a store!
Thank you for your help.
Hopefully, we will have something for everyone to look at soon.
Ira
I'll look forward to seeing it :)
