Thread: Heelllp i need help linking my pages

hi i am new @ vodahost this is my first website i am designing i have my pages ready actually only 3 i have already publish the home page its www.discoverpopotla.com it seems its working but once i try to link my other 2 pages i cant do it i have tried these for a couple hours and still cant doit

3nd page = www.discoverpopotla.com/3rdpagename.html

RENAME your home page to index (nothing else)
then republish your home page...................................

this is my home page www.discoverpopotla.com/index.html
my sub pages are www.discoverpopotla.com/contact.html
www.discoverpopotla.com/rusticosalvarez.html

but once i publish them they do not work......

I repeat, rename your home page to
index
(without the html part)
and then republish......
all your other pages are named correctly.

i believe it is the way you are saving your pages. your home page is only saved as:
index
your link for this page should always be
http://[URL="http://www.discoverpopotla.com"]www.discoverpopotla.com[/URL]
you don't use the /index or html when linking to your home page. remember you can name your home page anything you want but you must save it as i
ndex
now for your 2nd page:
aboutpopotla is how you should save this page
the links for this page should be:
http://www.discoverpopotla.com/aboutpopotla.html
now it looks like your link is saying this so it tells me that you didnt save the page as aboutpopotla
each page will follow the same course. you must save your pages with no caps or spaces and the name you save it will become the link and add html

and the untitled page is coming up as your index/home page........

Rename the untitled page to
index
save
publish

afterwards, use your ftp program or your file manager in your CP and delete
the page named home...........

now i get this message

I can see your untitled index/home page without any problems....
which other pages have you published to date?.....your links appear to be correct.

i just changed the name to index only no .html

my other page i publish its www.discoverpopotla.com/contact.html
but for some reason i cant see it

neither can I...............

gointo your Cpanel
file manager and see if its there....if so check the spelling, capital letters etc

i do not see my contact page
how else can i find it

publish your contact page in the same way that you published your index page.
make sure that you have the right
server number
username
password
and that its published to your public_html directory

yes i have done all those steps but i still cant get my contact page i dont know what am i doing wrong

If you want it as html, right click on Page Properties and make sure File Extension shows "html" - then save and republish.

yes i can now see it publish but there are some codes on the background and i cant get them off the page

I have tried 2 different browsers and I CANNOT see any code in the background...........

Refresh your browser as many times as it takes to load the current page version, so you can see as others do.

THEN review all the Tutorials carefully .... you need to start doing the basics yourself, as these Forums frown against this step-by-step hand-holding.....

Ok I see what you are talking about you are linking to contact.html when you need to link to Contact.php with a capital "C" this one doesn't have the code in it as it is in the correct format .php You do however need to work on the menu bars on that page. None of your other links work, have you published them yet? Pay closer attention to how you save the pages, use only lower case and no spaces it will be easier to remember.

i have only uploaded index, contact , animal planet and bevel glass house everyone is working properly except the contact page

Because you copied your email code in the wrong page head.

Locate it (in Page HTML) and delete it.


You really need to review the Tutorials and close this "special help" thread once and for all....

ok...the reason you are getting the "garbage" at the top is because you
have the contact paged "linked" as.. /contact.html
once you have a form on the page,the extension automatically changes to .php. SO..... RE-link the (contact) navigation button to...
www.yourwebsite.xxx/contact.php and the link will work.

I displayed your contact.php page and it is published and stands alone.
you just need to relink to it.
