Thread: Linking correctly

I have a link that doesn't work correctly. After verifying many times and also by tools, verify links (URL found !) the link doesn't find the right page.
www.quatre-feuilles.info , than click on français, then click on la région, This is the link that doesn't work.
I named the page: www.quatre-feuilles.info/FRregion.html This page is on the web. But when you click on the link la région, you will see that he's looking for www.quatre-feuilles.info/region.html. I checked the link over and over and I am sure that I linked to FRregion and not region.
I hope you understand the problem, it is not easy to explain. Thanks for your help !!!

One thing is for sure, you should never have capital letters in your page name. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't--be safe by using all lowercase: frregion. You can either change the page and the link to frregion or just change the page to region to match the link. I can't think of any reason why the link can't be changed to what you want.

Take the advice given by Tom. and you can always check the spelling of any published page by using the BV FTP or your file manager in your Cpanel.

This usually throws up the link errors.................

Hi, I changed the name as you said, but it still doesn't work . Do I have to do something with target ??

Nothing to do with "target"
check your spelling of the page name AND the link......thats usually the problem.

Did you publish all the pagse? with the changed link? You have to change..save and publish

I checked spelling, links, I saved, published etc. But if you click on la région you see in the adress above that the browser is looking for www.quatre-feuilles.info/region and not frregion as I named the pages. The page itself www.quatre-feuilles.info/frregion is published as well, but I cannot link. I checked everything over and over...

Should not all those page links have .html on the end ??

Check one more thing.............look in your file manager for any and all instances of the names that you have been publishing.

Delete any and all of the different spelling of frregion that you have tried.
republish and test again.

(sometimes duplicate names - caps and small can give this problem.)

Thats because in your navigation buttons. you typed it in that way..right click on them ..properties..edit..thats where you put in the extension Ie"

www.yoursite.com/frregion.html

when you save the page.. just save as frregion no extension.. if you have added one.. then you need to save as frregion.bvp

save and publish.. when you publish.. it will change to hmtl and your buttons will then work.

In BV: Tools > FTP Manager. Click "Connect". The right-hand pane will show you a list of all the files, images and so on in your public_html folder. Like David says, right click on any file that you want to get rid of. By doing this, you are removing the files off the VodaHost server. You can always publish any of them again from your list of pages in BV.

Aimee, the link that shows on your button is for "region.html". Like Karen says, you need to change it to frregion.html. And then republish. Are you saying the link will not change?

Indeed, the browser is looking for region.html, you can see it. But the button is named frregion.htlm. I changed this button all the other pages now, saved, republished, no result.

where are you changing the button name? its the LINK that needs changed ..not the name

Click on the NAME and chosse edit and fix the link

I made mouse over images, I double click on it and, then I click on Link and fill in http://quatre-feuilles.info/frregion.html . I
saved and republished. I did this to all the buttons la région on the other pages as well.

Be sure that's http://www.quate-and so on.

I did what Tom told me, I deleted all files in FTP and republished. It works now, great. Many many thanks for your help Tom, Karen and David !!
