Thread: First time user having problems

I am having problems linking my pages together from the buttons, some work most don't, also the 'back' arrow is out of use on the site !www.energyscale.ie any help appreciated.

I see that your buttons are changing to bluevoda's buttons if I put my mouse over it. You can customise your buttons. Just have a look at your buttons properties again.

Still having problems, I notice that when I first open my site and I hold the mouse over the buttons they are as I saved them in properties, but once I click on one of the one's that is working, they change to blue voda !

You can click on your buttons, properties, style and change the mouse over style to look as the same as your "normal" button.

Do you mean the back button in your browser? If you want to be able to use the back button in your browser, then click on your button, properties, click on the title and change the target, Not sure wheter you should use the _blank one, but experiment.

The reason why it is not working, because the target in your button properties, are set to open in a new window.

Martob, what you have to do is correct all the links; most are mis-named. For example:

A link on at least one page is looking for http:/www.energyscale.ie/whatisaBER.html. But your actual page is whatisaber.html, lowercase. Likewise, your links look for a page named contactus.html, but your correct page is contact.php. No link should refer to a page called homehtml or even home.html. Any link that takes you back to your home page should just be http:/www.energyscale.ie and nothing else. And I couldn't find anything like grantapplication, so that needs to be resolved as well.

Just need those corrections on each page, then you're good to go.

I seem to have sorted that out, but there is only one of the buttons working as it should (although they are all set the same, ie Target _blank, page blend 2 seconds)the others are opening as though its another website.Also the contact page does not work although the file extention is set to php. Anybody any ideas?

That is very useful information and I have applied it to my site but I still cannot resolve the other issues, very frustrating..

I see you links are now working however they all open in a new window, since you have full navagation on each page and it is within your site they should all open in the same window. In the link properties leave the target area empty, nothing in it and this will make it open in the same window as the page before it.

Hi, all looking fine now, but would do as Ed has suggested.

Thanks for all your help,I have now left the target area blank in the navigation bar area on all pages (double checked) and re published. Still not working right. Nearly there !
