I have seen websites where you click on a link and a pdf document comes up in a pop-up window. Is there a special thing I need to do this? Like ftp the pdf and then...?

There are many different ways off doing this if you know the scripts, but the easiest for you would be to ftp your pdf to your server, then make a link to the pdf ether a text link or image. Then when you put link in, "url to the pdf" tick the OPEN LINK IN A POPUP WINDOW. Check box, then click the popup settings button configure the popup that comes up. ie. size, position, weather you want scroll bars etc.
then click ok save and publish.
