    Question Quick Question b4 Publishing

Hi there, ok my site is ready to publish amd I am about to sign up for hosting later today.

bBefore I do, I just wanted to confirm what the screen setting reccomendation for each page should be set too?

I work on a 19in monitor, so wondered what each page should be set to ,to take in to account viewers who have smaller monitors etc?

Please can someone reccomend, and tell me how to go about doing it.

    Thanks,

I believe the most popular is 1024x768. Set from desktop>start>cotrol panel>display>settings

Your webpages should be, ideally, 800 px wide. 1000px is ok for many but any wider means horizontal scrolling which is a very bad thing. This is done in BV. Double click on page background and set page width accordingly. This should really have been decided at the start of your project as it may involve you moving some aspects around.

    Hope this answers your questions.

I explained how to do this in my first answer. The page height doesn't matter - as long as you need it to be.

Sorry! was in a rish n didn' read it.

I'm finishin the site and working from home at the same time lol

Yeah what you mentioned about setting page width before building your pages does seem to have affected the centering of the pages now. (I wasn't aware of this)

Any idea how I can re-centre them taking in to account the new page width?

    Many thanks,

If you make them the new width and put in to center - they will center - np -

Remember - it's not the size monitor anyone has - it's the resolution they have their computer set at. I can have an 8" monitor and see the same as you - just smaller LOL - just like a tv set. But we have OPTIONS on the resolutions - and how we set our type, etc - that can make a difference -

    Thanks Bethers!

    One slight concern....

When I put page width to 1000, and enabled "Center in Browser" in page properties and then go to Preview the pages they don't look centered. Infact they are too far to the left if that makes sense?

However playing around with it earlier, I moved the page content to the right, saved and then previewed at it then looked centered, so not sure if that is the correct way odfdoing it? as enabling Center in Browser didn't seem to do the trick once I previewed it?

    Please get back to me....

I don't think you need to centre your pages if they are around the 1000px mark. Centering is more important when your pages are less i.e. 800px as you get a blank at either side.
