Anywho.. I was wondering if it would be possible to have Personal Messages enabled on this forum?

Is it possible or is there ups and downs if you enable that?

Old news, old request.....not going to happen.
Too many problems, rife with opportunity for abuse, as well as sending email via the board.

(You should consider the details of Forums, even as far as installing one to serve as your Customer Support medium!)

Hmm.. Im on forums and its NOT a problem to get email or messages there. Sometimes its easier for members to contact you and you can ignore or put them on notice if they abuse it..

Can't imagine anyone juvenile enough to abuse or spam pms, or email.

PM's work for certain forums well enough, but if I remember correctly, ***** explained it to me that this forum is focused on supporting the "self-help" and "peer-to-peer" aspects to develop around the Tutorials and 'knowledgebase' already here. Not so much of a "membership" forum as it is a Learning place???

Still mad at me?? Don't be....I've been having a very rough two months, and it should be obvious that when I am out of character, there are usually solid reasons.....and.....I'm never really that "off" anyways....

The main problem to that idea is that we delete and ban 20+ spammers, porn pushers, con-men and weirdos per day, this forum gets 1000’s of visitors on a daily basis. Keep it clean and descent is a fulltime job. 99% of other web hosts, don’t even have a forum for this vary reason…We had a very unpleasant incident about 16 months ago when a female member was getting very obscene private messages. That was the day Brad and I decided to de-activate the private messaging feature forever.

Let us not lose focus about what this forum is about, it serves a two fold purpose.

1)As a support tool for the BlueVoda website builder and all other VodaHost products.
2)As a place to exchange and express ideas about how to be successful on the internet (Market and promote your website)

Yes, we do have a couple sections that are dedicated to socializing, but they are not the main purpose of the forum.

Im a member on another forum which has nothing to do with computers and stuff.. But, sometimes its nice, but other times not. You can get a really horrid member sending you a private message even though they act fine on the boards.

That was my two cents lol

On the other site im a member of, reporting it didnt help at all. I got so many pms and to be honest, it freaked me out alot. If I put the lass on ignore, I still got the pms. But, I doubt anyone on this forum will be doing something like that!

I completely understand *****'s point - as much as pm's would make somethings easier - I can choose to give or not give anyone my email or my im addresses - but a pm they would have access to - and I have a feeling VH has enough on their hands keeping up with all the thousands of support tickets I imagine they get - I don't want people with support issues to be put aside because they need to police pm's.

Now, Vasili, is that froth coming from your ears or mouth? OMG - please don't tell me both - and blood from the eyes? I'll be sure to stay the distance on the next full moon.

Actually......that can work for me!
I have been sufferng total cartharsis since getting to the point of actually loading product/descriptions/prices.....for all 3 sites (1 Soho, 2 osC)!!

Debating on how best to pare down from say....50K???? There has GOT to be some script or utility to automate this freaking impasse......

If you have the products in a list of some sort, you can put them into excel and make a csv file and upload to the cart, or if you cant get the cart to accept it, upload straight to mysql, just remember to tell it NOT to read the first row, or overwrite, but UPDATE so it will just add what you dont already have in there. Thats as close to automation as you are going to get. Even then sometimes you have to go do a little editing...
