how to insert a lightbox in DW?

i would like to have the lightbox effect into dreamweaver. i found a free script online, but im confused as to how do do it. do i have to create a external CSS sheet? or just paste the code given into the page? if anyone knows how to do it, can u please explain kinbd of the steps to follow?
