Thread: Creating users

I am a complete beginner at building a website and learning as I go along. I would like a site that allows people to register on the website but don't know how Would go about setting something like this up. I have come across MySQL and php in my research but would like to know if bluevoda has the necessary elements to allow me to set this up. If so will bluevado do most of the work for me or will I have to input html? Will I need to download other programs and if so which are the best?

Hi, BV will be able to accommodate most things you will need. As for the registering visitors you will really need a script to allow this to happen in a secure way.
Best bet would be to contact George at Navaldesign on this forum. He will be able to give you some good advice & possibly set it up for you for a moderate fee. LINK

A member script is made with a visual part and a php part. You can build the visual part in BV but the php part has to be handcoded.

If you don't mind very much about customization, you can use one of the many loggin scripts that are free in the internet. Google it.

An example of customized login script is here. Feel free to try it.

Practically is the same as this one.

Does the same apply for creating forums? I saw the tutorial for adding forums and was wondering if I can set up users using the forum tool. Will I need a login script for this too?

You can install a forum through cPanel. It will install software that was already created onto your website. With some editing you can use your forum as a login system for other uses. There are modification you can install to make your website a cms (content management system)

I'm assuming that the cpanel has a database where user information is stored and that won't need to sort that out separately.
