... anyway, could you please help me with this.

I'm on FormMakerPro system installation step.

Getting following message: Could not connect to MySQL server

With all these multiple usernames/passwords used in BV, I might misused
them. Please advise what should be entered in these fields ?

You need to create a database if you have not, the database user will not be your cpanel username. It will be your "cpanelUsername_NameYouGaveTheUser"

The same goes for the database.

Make sure that you have created the database and assigned permissions

Looks like I'm talking to myself...

it was first very frustrating experience with otherwise awesome!!! BV.

BlueVoda FTP tool did not upload all files, I had to install Smart FTP,
and now at the last step I can't complete it and don't have any
error message pointing me to the problem...
...something like password is invalid or etc.
just - Could not connect to MySQL server...

Username: cpanelUserName_mySqlUsername Not necessarily, ANY username you wat to use for logging in the FMP administration area when the script is installed.

E-mail: any existing address on my domain ANY that belongs to you, not necessarily in your domain, a gmail hotmail ot Yahoo adress would also be ok.

Password: E-mail password, or mySql password ? As above, ANY pasword that you want for FMP login purposes.

mySqlHost: localhost ? YES

mySqlLogin: cpanel_mySqlLogin, or just mySqlLogin ? controlpanel_username_sqlusername

mySqlDBName: cpanel_mySqlDBName, or just mySqlDBName ? controlpanel_username_DBname .



If you cannoy connect to the database it can be a couple of issues:

1. The database details you provided are wrong.. Look above
2. You did NOT add the DB user you created, in the database itself. This way, the user has no permissions to connect to the database, thus the error message. Make sure that the user you created has ALL the permissions for the FMP database.

Please note that this is a volunteer based forum, no one here gets oaid, so some times it can be some hrs before you can get an answer to your questions.

Can someone help me out. i hahe downloaded ABVFP, succesfuly intalled it up to step 7 on the installation instructions wizard. an now stuck at step 8 (now type in your browser ab bar: yourdomain.com/ABVFP/dbts_install.php)

When i close cpanel & type it, errow page not found shows. i have already published my unfinished site b/c of this.

Is this advanced form maker not intigrated in the bv form designing wich i have recantly downloaded.

You either have NOT uploaded all files, OR youhave used another folder name, OR you have mistyped your domain name.

I haven't inserted any form in it since am not able to design one yet. What i typed in the browser after i have created a database as in step 7 of the untallation and closed the cpanel is hhtp://www.learncomputerfest.com/ABVFP/dbts_install.php

I also tried typing in the (ABVFP) in lower case, but it won't work. Do i have to create the form first before the wizard will install. If so, should i use the tuttorial to create it and publish it before the wizard will install fully.

Ok, here is the problem:

1. You have created a "abvfp" folder.
2. But, instead of uploading the files in this folder, you have created ANOTHER folder, inside the first one, called "abvfp Folder"
3. You have not uploaded the extracted files (as clearly stated in the tutorial) BUT the entire ABVFP 2.0. zip

Please repeat the file upload as per instructions or it will never work.

Can you please work me through this process. I have uninstalled the ABVFP, installed it again but i could'nt do it. Thanks for your help.

I don't think that i can provide here more detailed instructions than what i have already done in the tutorial that is included with the zip.
Please open the Word tutorial, and follow to the letter all steps. It is very detailed, and it also includes images (screenshots) that will walk you through the process. Do NOT try to make variations of your own at this point, as said, follow instructuions to the letter.

If you still have problems, please post again.

Thanks for your advice. i have tried again but no success. i opened my ftp and on the abvfp folder, all the axtracted files are there, but the first three on the list (bv pages, tutorials, wysiwyg 5.o wb pages). could this be the 3 folders i shouldn't have uploaded? if so can i go back to ftp and delate the first 3 folders above.

Please tell me how to tackle this stage if the above it not right.

You will see that there are NO files in it (unless you deleted them). So you have uploaded nothing, or you have uploaded theem in a different folder.

The three folders: you didn't need to upload those, however, it will not be a problem. It is not ***essary to delete them.

So there MUST be something else you are doing wrong.

Find out WHERE you uploaded the files. Is this your main domain, or an addon ? If this is an addon, maybe you created a folder in the Main domain ?

Yes this is my main domain. i did upload this file and it's on the puglic folder. I just dont know whare i got it wrong.

Still need some help.
I have tried to use this ABVFP but still having some problems. The form dos'nt display when i click it on my sit at www.learncomputerfast.com instead, erro mesage keep poping up.

how do i begin desning and publishing the form correctly to have the working fine.

This is not a ABVFP problem, but a typing mistake. Your form URL is http://www.learncomputerfast.com/contact form.html Note the white space between contact and form.

Edit this in your button, or, even better, save your BV page as "contactform" instead of "contact form", save and republish. tefresh your browser before testing

EDIT: Further more, your form is wrong: the editboxes as well as the submit button are outside the form area, so it will not work. Also, your form is NOT processed by ABVFP, you have set it to be processed by the "action.php" script.

I have delated the contact, thank you and erro pages from my FTP. Please what i whant to know is; how do i start from scrach to use or edit the abvfp subscription, thank you and erro pages. I have delated them because i created them earlier wiyh bv form maker.

Should i open it, edit it, "save as" and then publish each and every page.
I have filled out a form on ABVFP and have the form number. So how do i start using this form.

Please note that it is not necessary that you use ABVFP only with the form / thank you/ error pages that come with the bundle. You can create / use your own form / hank you / error page. The ONLY requirements are that you set up the form and error page correctly, and that you also provide the correct details in the ABVFP control panel.

So,

Step 1. If you have your form ready, double click it and set as action: http://www.learncomputerfast.com/abvfp/dbts_abvfp.php

Step 2. Set the form encoding type to "multipart/form data"
Step 3. Set the form hidden field "Formid" to be the form number that ABVFP has displayed when you set up the form
Step 4. Save and Publish your form
Step 5. Create , Save and publish your Thank you page.
Step 6. Open the Error page that is included in the zip, modify it as required (WITHOUT changing the text area content, or the page HTML), Save and publish it.
Step 7. Go in your ABVFP control panel, login, and select Option 3: modify the settings of an existing form. From the Listbox, select the form with your form ID
Step 8. When the form settings appear, make sure that ALL the settings are correct. Especially the Form URL, the Thank you page and Errorpage URLs, as well as your email address.

Open the form page in your browser, hit F5 sometimes so it will refresh, and test the form.

Thanks for your help. I have created and published the 3 pages. But the erro message still comes up after i submite my test form.

Do i have to publish the 3 forms in the same folder, for example "contactform.html) in order to have them working proparly. Right now they are on different folders as i can see on my FTP.

Can you please be more specific ? what are the IRLs of the 3 pages ?
What error message you get ?

It is not important that the pages are in the same folder, the important is that the pages URLs are correctly provided in the ABVFP control panel

The error message states:I cannot process the form. The form has not been correctly setup. !"

I have also changed the pages in ABVFP control panel via the 3rd option.

Let's start from this one: your hidden field is named "formid" with lowercase f. Make it "Formid" with uppercase F. test and we will see from there.

I have just done that and this is the message i get:
Not Found

Ok, we are making progress. This means that ABVFP has worked for your form! It sinply cannot find the thank you page, but all the rest should be working (the mail submission) or it would not even reach that point.

Open your Thank you page in your browser.

Once it appears, cipy, from the browser address bar, the entire URL (http://....... ) . Now open your ABVFP, select, as you did before, "Modify the settings of an existing form" and select your form 2.

Go in the field "Thank you page URL" and delete whatever you have there. PASTE in the field, the URL that you have copied from your browser. memorize the settings.

Now test again the form.

In 99% of the cases, it is a typing error or a mistaken folder

In an earlier post you said that the mySQL host is the local host, sorry apparently I don't catch on very fast, where do I find this? (It's 7 am after being up all night working on this site, I'm a little dense at the moment, maybe getting some sleep will clear the brain) Thanks for your help in advance.

The host, for scripts running on VH servers, is always "localhost" . That's what you need to provide to your script installation wizard

Wow... that was to simple I thought there would be more to it than that /facepalm.
