Default Creating a user account for a retailer on my site.

Hi, I need a bit help of please.

I am trying to create a section on my website for retailers so that they can create an account with username and password that will have there information, shop details, details of there last order saved and allow them to place another order.

I understand that this will require php and mysql? I think at least.

I have tried creating a mysql a couple of times but have never managed it.

If people could please decribe in real lamens terms what it is i need to do that would be great. I'm not so hot with coding or trying to work out mysql.

All help appreciated.

Thank you, i look forward to hearing your ideas.

Hi,

Please watch the form tutorials:
http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/for...-part-1-a.html
http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/for...-part-2-a.html

Even though I am sure that You would eventually learn how to do it in php/mySQL, I would recommend You to register at vodabids and place an add there so that a programmer could do it for You with a professional aspect, I mean.

The other choice is to slowly move one foot after the other and when the doubts arise, to place them here.

I am sure that You will have many people willing to help/teach You at this forum.

Hi, thanks for the reply but I already know how to make a form.

I now understand what I'm after is a little bit tricky so I want to make it simpler.

I understand that if i create a very simple login for users that they will all be directed to the same page, but how can I make it so that they are each directed to there own personal page, eg, so the page says welcome joe bloggs.

any ideas? i've been trauling php sites for days c'mon help a bluevoda user out here.

Many thanks.

Ok !
Let's give it a shot:
Step 1: Create the mySQL database
a) Go to cpanel (place a "/cpanel" in front of Your website name at the browser line)
b) Choose Option mySQL Databases
c) Write the name You want to give the database, for example "heartdesign" and then hit the button "Create Database"
d) Next screen will tell You "Database Created" - Choose "Go Back"
e) Now You are able to see Your database created VodaHost allways adds at the begining of database heartdesign a prefix that is Your login name at cpanel followed by a _.
For example if You login name is abcdef and You have choosen as database name the word "heartdesign", the database name will be "abcdef_heartdesign".
Are You following so far?
f) Now Choose a username for You database and a password for accessing the database:
For example You choose "peter" as username and "peters" as password, again Vodahost will create a user with name "abcdef_peter".
g) Next screen will tell You "Account Created" - Choose "Go Back"
h) Now You must add users to the database, choose the user "abcdef_peter" for the database "abcdef_heartdesign" and then hit the "Add User to database" Button.
g) Next screen will tell You "Account added to access list" - Choose "Go Back"
And that's it the database has been created.
Let's start from here ?
