VodaHost makes the difference!

Forms have always been a difficult field for many BlueVoda users. Specially when it comes to having required fields, validation, security, multi file uploads, and multiple choice listboxes.

Well, from today, VodaHost supplies you the tool to process your forms easily, and in security.

All posts before January 26 2007 regard the old version, so please DO NOT look for solutions in these posts. The ABVFP v2.0 is almost totaly new.

Here are the features of the new software available from today: (in blue colour the features of the new, ABVFP v2.0, available since Friday January 26, 2007)

- Required fields checking.
- Validation of the fields (email, numeric field, field length, allowing or not @ symbol to be included)
- Multifile upload, with max size specified by the user.
- Attachments: you will receive the uploaded files directly on your desktop with the email that you will receive.
- Multiple owner email addresses: the script will now send multiple emails, to the specified owner email addresses. The first one, will be used as the "reply to" address for the autoresponder message.
- Option to have your email address included or not in the autoresponder message.
- Multiple choice field processing.
- Customizable mail subject.
- Customizable multiline email header and footer. Improved text formatting.
- Autoresponder with customizable header, footer, subject and "From:" field. Improved text formatting.
- Built in security measures against automatic bot submission and / or mass spam submission using your script.
- Single "action" file for all your forms. It will process ALL your forms.
- User friendly interface that will allow you to setup the processing script by just typing in your site info. No hand coding required.
- Username and password feature for the script administration page: no one else but you will ever be able to login.
- FULL error reporting page: it will notify the visitor of all the errors encountered in filling in the form.
- Thankyou page to let the visitor know that his submission has been successfull and allow him to go on surfing your site.
- User defined URLs for the Errorpage and the thankyou page
- User defined folder for the uploaded files (inside the same folder where ABVFP is installed)
- You can now save your project in the database. If you need to change the settings for a form, you can do it just editing what needs to be edited. You don't need to type everything from scratch.
- Database storing of the form submitted info: the script will AUTO CREATE the necessary database table, and store the info in it.
- Installation wizard, that makes software installation as simple as possible. Create a database and a database user, upload the files, provide your details, and the script will be automatically installed.
- Popup Help windows to guide you through the installation and the setting up of the forms.
- Support for multiple forms per page. The old version could only process one form per page.
- Support also for non VH users: since the script is a collection of html and php files, you can simply upload it on your server and it will work.

Extras: Downloadable Word file with the tutorial, for offline work. Full instructions on how to upload the software on your site, how to install and use it, how to customize or create your own Thankyou page and Error page.

for your feedback. If you have a suggestion on the ABVFP features, or functionality, or any comments, that can help us improve the next versions of the software, please let us know. We will try to add new features or improve the existing ones, in the limits of the script structure.

I have set up the Advanced Form Processor on my recipe sharing website, and it works fine for my recipe submit form:

However, I am now trying to set up a form for submitting documents and photos using the file upload utility here:

http://www.joycesrecipes.com/picsubmit.html

With this one I get the following error: Illegal Form Submission

I have information in all the required fields, and the file to be uploaded is less than 200kb. Is there a simple answer to this problem? What have I missed?

You have left the hidden filed value "submit" probably because you have copy / pasted the first form you had created. You need to set it to "picsubmit" .

Dear Naval,

Yr forms are great! I am using it nw.

But it is possible to embed the following functions listed below?:

(1) I want my registered member to receive an autorespond email with a non-repeated member's number after they filled up the form, e.g. member 1 is 0001, member 2 is 0002 so on and so forth...

(2) Another form for them to attach files and send provided they keyed in their member's no. 0001, 0002 and so forth...

ABVFP is a generic script, so it cannot perform actions based on the requirements of every single user.
What you are asking for can be accomplished with a custom made script. In fact, it requires a database, a login system (with registration page, remind password page, admin interface to be able to manage your members, as well as the records, and then ofcourse the form page needs to check if the user is logged in or not and act accordingly. Please note that the 0001, 0002 etc username (in fact it is a username) is NOT secure: you need to have a real password and username script.

All of these are possible, but, as i said, it requires a custom made script. I do take such works as a freelance. If you are interested, contact me.

Naval: I installed and have been using your advanced form processor for a month or more without a problem. I just had someone call me and said they could not use my form as they kept getting errors. So I checked it out and I am getting the same error mentioned above, Illegal Form Submission. I am not using this form for any other purpose except as a contact form on my website. I did recently change all my pages to php. Would that have made a difference? I have been through everything I know and cannot figure out why. Can you help me? Thanks

If you have changed the form page in php, but you have left the script as it was, it is expecting the submission from the page http://www.yourdomaun.com/formpage.html but now it is receiving the submission from http://www.yourdomain.com/formpage.php so it is considering it an illegal submission. You need to run again the "nd.admin.php" page, and give it the correct form URL (with the php extension).

Naval: Ok..I went into the ndadmin.php and completed the form again, paying special attention to change the contactform.html to contactform.php. I also changed the thank_you from html to php. Everything points to .php extensions. I'm still getting the "illegal form submission". Any other thoughts?

It still appears as html in the config file. Please send me your loggin for ndadmin.php to info+navaldesign.it (replace + with @)

I have two questions. Is it possible for the processor to create a form to place in an existing page as opposed to a separate page? Also, Where in the CP do I change the permission of the "uploads" folder to 777?

Yes, the form can be in ANY page on your site.

Do not worry about the "uploads" folder permissions (unlless you have already created it). The script will create it for you and it will also give it the correct permissions (777). However, and this goes for ANY folder or file, you can change the permissions in two ways:
1. Connect with Blue FTP. Select the file or folder, right click, Permissions, and set the correct number.
2. Control Panel, File Manager, find your file or folder, select it by clicking on it's name, and then in the right top corner, a number of options will appear: Rename, edit, delete, change permissions etc. Click on "Change permissions" and change them.

Please check that you are publishing to the correct IP address. If it is not contained in the dropdown menu, please download the lates BV version. And, please do not use non relevant threads. Start a new one, or find some already existing but relevant to your problem.

In the Form scriptor Administrator under the second required field where it says "Your Form URL" what url do I list for the form to be viewed in any page? For example, if I wanted to place the form in one of my services page.

The actual URL of the page where the form is: http://www.yourdomain.com/pagename.html

if you have the same form also in other pages, you need to repeat the procedure for all the forms.
