Default Re: BlueVoda V9.1 Issue Tracker

I downloaded the new version of Blue Voda (9.0.3) and it totally changed the way my templates/web pages appear in BV. The left column of my template does not go all the way to the bottom. The lines in between parts of my template show the background color instead of white. When I preview or publish the page it looks perfect but why is there the discrepancy?
I also get an error that the file cannot be found when I try to access the templates/web pages from My Documents where I have my BV folder?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this has been reported. I get black lines around most items on the page IE: an image/shape/ box & so on. But if I also try to add a border to an item, it won’t show until I preview. There just seems to be a lot of black lines.

Cheers.

Is this while you view your page within the web builder? Your site appears to be showing fine when I view with the exception of page widths and centering the same ...

So .... here is what perhaps may be going on ...

I have found with the release of BV9 (and its recent upgrades to it) that the pages within your web builder are set in a standard format. This is a definite great feature of the new version 9, it will help maintain your page within the '800 width that your pages are recommended to be built at.

If you have previously built your website with pages that are wider than this, you should either adjust your web pages and republish, or adjust the margins within the builder to accommodate this ... your choice

The very same scenario with the length of your page, so if you are only seeing part of your template going down the page, increase your margins, bottom left in the builder, and move your page downward ...

Hope this helps ...

I have just installed the new version. My problem is that when I preview or publish and view my new pages all picture links are displayed in continuous blue text at the top of the page. Also the black borders that I put around my images have turned to blue (I think this is because they are links themselves). Please help.
Steve.

Pablo .... Boss .....

There has been some mention of "black lines" on objects that was not seem is earlier versions, and I am expereincing some myself...in of all things, simple reset/sumbit buttons in an email form.

I am also quite dismayed at the loss of being able to "format" buttons and text boxes as could be done earlier: buttons especially, bit also the backgrounds and borders in text boxes and "upload" boxes remain white with gray/blue borders no matter what you do!
I had to actually abandon plans and re-think one project today because of it.

You can see for yourself on this "side-site" I am scrambling to finish (a BV site under a Flash site for enhanced SEO, and as an option for visitors), and how close I came to uniformity without making it all the way.
If this was to be the main site itself, I would not feel too bad, but I miss BV7! LOL

This is the Flash version, if interested.

I'm not aware of any problems related to black lines, formatting or any of the other issues you've mentioned.
If you think you've found a problem, please include the exact steps how we reproduce this behaviour.
Also make sure you have the latest version 9.1.

Hi Pablo

Forgive my ignorance but please explain what you mean by manually added html code? I wasn't aware I did anything other than make a picture a link to a popup page.
How do I remove this or make sure it is valid?

Im assuming it is valid as everything worked fine with the older bv version.
Much Appreciated.
Steve.

(I tried removing the 'link' from each individual pictures properties. I then selected each picture and used the link feature from the top menu bar but this made no difference)

Whren I look at the source code of your page it looks like this:

Code:

<a href="<A href="#" onClick="window.open('http://www.st-cars.co.uk/fordfocustdiwjsmopage.html', '','width=920,height=700'); return false;">http://www.st-cars.co.uk/fordfocustdiwjsmopage.html"><img src="http://www.st-cars.co.ukk/focus1.JPG" id="" alt="" align="top" border="2" width="248" height="184" style="position:absolute;left:20px;top:2350px;width:252px;height:188px;z-index:12"></a>
I doubt that this will work as expected. You should not duplicate the tags
which are already generated by BlueVoda.

I assume you want to create a popup window, instead of a regular link, so maybe this code will work if you put it inside the URL field:

Code:

#" onClick="window.open('http://www.st-cars.co.uk/fordfocustdiwjsmopage.html', '','width=920,height=700'); return false;

Hi Pablo, have just been adding things as normal. But now every item has a black line around the perimeter. It only shows on the BV page & not in preview or published, its just a bit of a pain when making up the BV pages.

Another issue: open any long page (that takes more than the screen in height) . Now, highlight any text, and try to change the font. When the font dropdown opens, scroll down (or up) with the scroll wheel. You will see that the page also scrolls. The same goes when you scroll the Font size dropdown. (the above in Window Vista, NOT tested on XP)

Not too much of an issue, but it would be better if it didn't.

Chris,
Didn't you accidently enable the outlines (Menu->View->Object Outlines)?

Navaldesign,
I'm not sure if can do anything about this. It seems to be a problem in the toolkit used to create the toolbars. I will check if there may be a workaround for this.

Chris says he does not see this upon publishing, but I do, as I demonstrated earlier (re: reset/send).
And no, I do not have object outlines "enabled".

I do not have any specific process to detail....I merely used the functions available as best I could! LOL

The second part of my mention was the fact I cannot customize the border colors, fonts/sizes, or "backgrounds" of the buttons/textbox etc. like in earlier versions......or am I completely oblivious to the obvious again???
LOL

Love all the great add-ons! Thanks for all your hard work.
I have found that some (but not all)of my menu-bars, when previewed, do not show up at all. I checked for validation. The sites have been up for awhile and I need to make some changes but I'm afraid that the menus won't show up when I upload the pages. Have you had anyone else with this problem in this latest version 9.1?
I also found that many of my fonts are unusually large and I have to change them back to normal. I usually use web-safe fonts such as Arial, Tahoma, Verdana and Comic Sans.
Thanks again...

Vasili,

I do not see anything wrong to your page. Where do I need to look?
Your reset and send button uses the default Windows theme on my computer. The editboxes do have custmized border and backgrounds.

There seems to be nothing wrong as far as I can tell. Did you try to view it on another computer?

Pablo!

In post #10 above, you presented an onclick code that can be pasted into the URL box of the Hyperlink dialog within BV, and it seemed to be the perfect solution for me as I am trying to use the unobtrusive "onclick" pop-ups to present pages uniformly on the HTML version of a Flash site....unfortunately, I cannot seem to resolve one issue, that of text flowing below viewable area: I need a scrollbar on the onclick stripped-down pop-up window!

I want to have my pop-ups uniformly present at 500x500, but some text page heights are 700-900 height, and without a scroll bar, it's pointless.
Also, is there a way to add "center" to the code to make them pop-up in the center, or "middle" of the viewers monitor?
this is the code I have modified from that you posted above for Chris:
#" onClick="window.open('http://www.choiceincentive.com/our_company.html', '','width=500,height=885'); return false;
You can see my futile efforts live here: www.choiceincentive.com/about_us.html at the bottom of "Our Company" > read more ...
(It worked fine on the other link -- same page: "Our Character" > read more , as the content was short!)

I prefer to use this simple method of pasting a simple code into a BV dialog, and as you can see my 885 tall page will not be workable....anything you can do to show me how to "middle screen" the pop-up and add scrollbars would be greatly appreciated!

A very small doubt. I first downloaded BV 9-0-1 and then 9-0-2. Then came 9-0-3 and further updated version 9.1 is there in the latest.

After the first download, can I install BV 9.1 right ahead or should I install one after the other in the ******logical order?

I'm not sure if this is a BV problem or not. I have saved several Excel docs as .htm/.html files. I have been able to FTP some of them but since 9.1 I have not been able to FTP or use the CP to transfer them to my public_html/redhawk-archery folder.

You can install 9.1 over any previous version, no need to install all the versions that have been released.

Hi Terry,

the FTP part of BV is the same. So it is NOT an issue of the new version.

Are you receiving some error message ?

Slow to publish after I loaded 9.1
It is taking up to 15minutes to publish my sites now.
I have a high speed DSL, and I was able to publish in seconds before.
Any solutions?

It is NOT a BV issue.

I mean, the code that is generated by BV is almost the same lenght as before. Once generated (and this is done in a matter of a fraction of a second, on your local computer level) the code is uploaded on your site using FTP (the same BlueFTP that you use). So, if it takes lots of time, it can only be two issues: Lots of traffic on your ISP's server, or, VH server pretty loaded at the moment when you publish.

Form Validation, we have an issue:

the javascript function that would define the validation, is repeated for every form, with the same name.

Making myself clear:

If you have two or more forms in your page, and validation is made for more than one, BV will create two Javascript validation functions, one for each form. The problem, is that the function name is always the same, "ValidateForm1 " . It ignores the form id number. This way, the validation function that has been defined last, (and, as i have seen, is the one refering to the highest formid number) will, when the code is read by the browser, override the validation code of the forms defined previously. So, the fist form validations will NOT work, and only the last (the one with the highest Form ID number) will.

I also found that many of my fonts are unusually large and I have to change them back to normal. I usually use web-safe fonts such as Arial, Tahoma, Verdana and Comic Sans.

I have the same problem, I have 4 menubars on my index page and only 1 shows up. I[m affraid to make any updates either. Support says to redo them, I'm waiting to see if there is another solution as it is a lot of work. HAVE YOU FOUND ANOTHER SOLUTION?

Menubars dissapeared after upgrade. I had 4 on the home page and only 1 shows up. They are in BlueVoda but when I go to preview they don't show up. I have a lot of branches so I hope there is a work around other than recreating them.

NavalDesign,
I can confirm this form error it will be fixed in the next update.

hijv@bellsouth.net,
You do not have to redo all your menus. All you will have to do it verify the font size of the menus. Previous version of BlueVoda used point sizes, but the latest release switched to pixels, because of reported errors with various browser and computer configurations.

Can't get merging cells in tables to work.
By placing the cursor just to the left of the row (containing 2 cells) the arrow comes up to hilite the row and then I've tried both right clicking on the hilited row and then clicking the merge cells option and also after hiliting the row clicking on Table and then merge cells but nothing happens.
I've also tried hiliting the cells in the row by using CTRL+click

Thanks

Thought I had posted this, but I can't find it, so it could be I just thought of doing it.. anyway here goes:

I love the new text menu feature. As it stands now it is all in one line, and if the menu itself is wider than your chosen width, say 800, then you can compress it and the 'extra' goes to two lines.
Nice, really, but here is my problem.
1. I can't control the spacing between the two lines - I would like to make it slightly wider than it is as it looks alittle cramped.. I see how to make space between the links, but not between the lines. Is there a way that I am not seeing?
2. It seems to arbitrarily decide to go to three lines at some random point, not when the second line is full..can't find a way to fix that. Frustrating.
3. This one isn't an issue, but rather a suggestion. Some of my buttons are two words. I would love to be able to make those two words on top of each other, instead of in a row. It'd take less room, and maybe let me have just one line for the menu. For instance, if the textlink is "Water Plants" , all in one line,I would like it to be
Water
Plants
and I would like the words to be centered above/below the single line, so it would look nice in a row with single word links.
I know I can do it by making those links seperately but it would be cool to have that option and then have one single menu bar.
I hope I have explained myself clearly enough.
Thanks

I am still unable to FTP an Excel file saved as .htm/.html
The window shows the file transferred and a file does appear on the server. However, I get an "Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Web Page"
message after publishing a page with the excel file called up in an IFrame.
Also, when clicking on the file from the server location I get the same message.

Hi, I am not sure if it’s my machine? But I have been having the same problem & found the only way I could get the XL file on site was to use the upload file/browse at the top of all directories’ in C Panel. Not sure why I can only do it here & not via FTP. It wont tranfer via another brand of FTP either. (strange)

Image properties
Since installing BV9.x images with properties_link_target=_blank would not display when published, although displays perfectly in browser review. _self + _parent + _top works, but I actually need to open a new tab for these links as they point to sales pages external to my site.

Insert hyperlink
The appearance / style for hyperlinks does not save between pages or sessions, which is a real bug bear for me.

Please include on issue / bug list. Many thanks ... Performatix

But, it DOES save between sessions. It doesn't save between pages, but this is intended. If you nedd to have the same hyperlink style between pages, you either create the new pages using the Save as, or the Clone command, or, last, creating a Template and using it for all the pages.

Since downloading 9.1 I have experienced the following
problems with my site:

Menu under "Mexican Vacations to" does not show in IE and in FF the font size changes. Sometimes the left links are affected. Some images do not show at all no red x's just a blank space.

Cannot access mail in CP, even after waiting for the changes that were being done by VH.

Hello, everyone. Still have problem with changing and saving and utilizing appearance/styles of hyperlinks. It doesn't work. Nothing changes. Tried many times, over and over again, downloaded several times, restart computer, etc. etc. Nothing is happening. They are all blue and then underlined. Any help on this issue yet?
Thanks.

Are you talking about what you see in preview ? or in the BV screen ?

In BV they will ALWAYS appear as blue and underlined, the styles are only visible in preview or when published.

I have looked your source code in the index page, and there is no trace of this code.

The code should be pasted in the Between head tag of your page HTML. Please check to see if it really is there.
Or, provide a link to the page that has this code

Hi Choco ... (sorry, didn't see u in here, would never overlook u)

How's it going, hot weather down there I will bet ...

Okay, this is what I want to suggest you do my dear ... (ok, it's work, but you love it, lol)

I want you to find a page that works perfectly and use that page as your base page, and then open up a page that doesn't work properly, delete away the things that are not working, then copy and paste from the page that does work those very same things ...

The best way to do so is via your top tool bar as opposed to right clicking copying & pasting method ....

I think this will fix you up in that department ....

Also, check under page properties for the colour of links that are defaulted for that page .... unless you set a certain style to all of your links on all of your pages, you will have some that do not do the same ..... so consistency throughout is what you need to achieve ... right ...

try all this, well try a page or two and let me know if this is helping, if not we will try something else ... okay ...

will be around if u need me .... kk

Ok so choco and I had the same problem but I'm not going to redo 170 pages of website. My fingers still hurt. And I've tried making corrections like ladyeye said by copy and paste. Problem is each time I open any older pages it converts the menu bars to the new version and then I have no older version to copy and paste. My only option is to go backwards and use the old reliable software.

Head tags are within any object html. under properties. say you right click a picture at the bottom it has html. click on that and it gives you head tag and a code to which you can add more code.

Right click on any blank space of the page, select HTML, and the dialog box that opens click on "Between head" then paste the code in the lower window and you are done.

Oh, and what's up with the background turning black when you click on an area to edit it?

if indeed it doesn't change or save, and it appears blue in all cases, there is something wrong, but i cannot say what as i have not been able to reproduce the problem. The same goes for the background problem you have mentioned.

Not sure if this has been posted yet?

when I click on <File, <New Page, <From Template, I get a fatal error saying "BV has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Good luck.

It works ok and opens the template selection window, on me. It is the same issue as the ctrl+F that you have posted before.

I beleive that there must be some conflict between BV and some other software on your PC

Two users having the same conflict issue?
Maybe there is a bug somewhere when upgrading.

Yes, could be. But the problem, till now, regards 3 (not 2) users, out of something like 45000.

Ugrade using ready made javascripts enabled caused the problem.Complete uninstall including delete of all BlueVoda registry keys and then install solves the problem.

My bad Naval I forgot to check with explorer. If you use that link in firefox they don't work correctly. They do work in explorer the way they should.

Make sure you reserve enough space for the menu to expand.
FireFox seems to only display the menu items for the space you have allocated for it in BlueVoda.

Where do I allocate space in firefox or bluevoda? I'm sure you mean bluevoda. Not familiar with that allocation. THX

By 'allocate' I mean: Make the menubar object on your BlueVoda workspace large enough so it will have enough space to expand.

Question Re: BlueVoda V9.1 Issue Tracker

Please help!! I built my site (www.lechiccotons.com) several months ago on an old version of BV - and since upgrading to the 9.1 version, everything in black - fonts, borders, etc... - is showing up "white" in BV. I can't figure out why. When I preview the site or publish it, the black shows up correctly. This is making it difficult to build my site because I can't see my text. ??

If you look at my site - everything in black looks white in BV. If I change the background color to something dark, the background color will show through where the black text should be. ??

I am so confused.

Kim

Hi,

On the older version of BV I was able to move my elements slowly, and getting them exactly where I want them. Ever since I uploaded the new version when I try to move them, they jump around. And I'm not able to make certain elements the size I want. On this page:
http://www.oursportscollectibles.com/ncaa.php I don't have the side borders how I want them, they would not go further down.

Similar problem with sizing of images, it used to be slow until I got the size I want, now it also jumps around and I don';t get them the exact size I want. See http://www.porcelaindollsandmore.com/

Thanks in advance!

You have probably enabled snap to grid, and you have a very large grid, so elements snap to the grid giving the impression that they are jumping around. Make your grid spacing smaller, or disable Snap to Grid.

When I click on FTP manager, I get an immediate message that says "BlueFTP has encountered a problem an dneeds to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I am now uploading PDFs using the cPanel. It is inconvenient, but works. Any ideas.

Hi, there are a few of us that get this in various situations & I am sure it is a minority. But what I have found works on my machine, (for some reason )is! Hit the ctrl+Alt+delete then cancel the operation when the popup window appears. It seems to refresh everything & BV is then back to normal. I know it not the tecie answer, but it works for me. lol

Good luck.

Hi,

I have two problems:

1) I've been republishing an index page for www.effectiveinternetselling.com, but it's still showing the old one.

2) I'm not sure this is a Voda 9.1 issue, but I am, too, having problems with the ftp. I get an error saying: "530 Login Authontication Failed", although I changed the password for both my cpanel and the ftp.

Hi, have you right clicked on a blank part of the menu bar area to see if the pay pal button menu is ticked (selected).

Hi, wasn’t sure if this was an issue with “Verify links”. This test seems to check all links related to Menu bars & Navigation. But doesn’t seem to pick up on the normal hyperlinks IE: The ones that are created by the highlighting of words & enter hyperlink.

Wasn't sure if this should go in this thread or the wish list thread....Anyway, when using the logo maker (Which is GREAT), it would be nice to be able to have a link option in order to link to another website. Collectors-info had me put a transparent box over my logo and link the box which works great, but still would be nice if we could link the logo directly. thanks
