Hi, I am trying to install a oscommerce template purchased from vodahost templates. I need to know the following, or how to find them

Database server ( this can be a host name or IP address ?????)
Username (database username)
Password (database password)
Database name ?

The install instructions that came with the template are ****. Is there an existing database username and password, or do I need to create one through Mysql. Do I create a blank database to get the database name, or is it the name on the template instructions (osc_5689).

I have tried the following for IP addresses
74.86.118.23
74.86.118.23:2082
74.86.118.23:2082/localhost
74.86.118.23:2082 / localhost
localhost

nothing works - either access denied, or cannot connect to Mysql server on ....

I think I'm going crazy, and its way past my bedtime, please help.

ok, after a lot of reading we figured this out.

first we had to make sure that we added the data base user to the database. You find this when you click on mysql, you will see the database you created, but down the bottom is a function to add the user to the database, so we did this as I read it somewhere else.

next the correct field for database server is just localhost
username - per database you created through cpanel
password - per database you created '' ''
database name - per database you created '' ''

Installation was successful.

I hope this helps someone else - if I have put anything incorrect please correct.

Hi Vasilli,

The .txt file that come with the .zip file is not clear at all.
Do you have better instruction on how to install free osCommerse templete (the one that supplied by Vodahost)?
Or could you help to modify that instruction to make it more clear and up to date so can be used for latest version of osCommerse.

I really need help for the installation of free osCommerse templete as Vodahost customer support asked me to find the answer on the forum.
Hope you can help me for this.
