Outlook and Word changing the way I typed paragraphs

When I use Outlook Express, Word and Word Pad, the lines and paragraphs I typed are changed when they are sent or printed.
The letter or printer produces jagged and incomplete lines, whereas
I had typed in nice block paragraphs. I'd really like to know what
I've done wrong and what adjustments to make. Thanks.
Now I'd like to add that the jagged lines above are what I mean!

None of those are html editors - try writing in notepad and you shouldn't have the same problem. The others have different formulas in them that don't convert properly online.
