trouble log on to win xp pro sp2

I have win xp pro sp2 installed
mother board : gigabite GA-8IPE1000-G
video card: geforce 4 mx400 64bit
sound card: soundblaster live!
A firewire pci slot
modem supra diamond 56k
a 10/100 erthnet slot
usb external

the pc is booting normaly but it would not log on after the black screen of
progress with the win logo completes. The mouse and keyword is working propely. Hard drives sound great and look activePlease help there are important
contacts and data within applications which i cannot retrieve unless
the op system is back again.

ps Safe Mode does not work as it gets me at the same situation i was before.
(the blue welcome screen with the windows logo but with no option to log on the system. The mouse and keyword is working propely. Hard drives sound great and look active.)

Thats what they call the BLUE screen of death...........

I had it once last year and I had to use the original system disk and the safe reload option.

My pc is still alive i think there is a problem with lsass.exe without the option to be a blaster worm as the hard drive has been found free of virus by Norton antivirus 2007 and Nod32. the mouse and keyboard are still working

If you cant log on, then your operationg system is corrupt, hence the name that I mentioned.
Looks like a system reload to me.

Look for the option which just installs all th drivers again and leaves your data and program files intact.

The more info you have, the better...........

If you have your system cd, then when you insert it and switch on your machine, it will ask you some questions.

DO NOT choose the system install as this will overwrite your existing programs and data.

If you are not sure of what you are doing, I would advise you to get the help of an experienced person or computer repair shop to do it for you.
