How do i make a parttion of my hard disk?

Hi.. who can give me a hint to make a partition on my hard disk, i have still the install cd, but i do not know if i can use it to make it, i understand that must be done when intalling, if i have to use special software, who knows a freeware to do this, i use windows pro....
