Youll need office, or opensource office to open it.. Word most likely.

I think .docx is the latest version of Microsoft Word.
To open either upgrade word or ask the person who sent you it to 'back' save it to an older version

Use Open Office to open docx, excel files and so on. Super nice Word replacement for free. Here.

office 2007 or higher can open that, or try to get a converter to .doc

I am still using my Word 2004. I do not want to spend another few hundred dollars to buy the latest Word.
