  • Page Telling of Redirect

    I understand how to redirect a domain so that any visitors who type the URL of "site A" into a browser bar will automatically arrive at "site B." But when I do that, "site A" never even appears.

    What I want is: the home page of "site A" would appear for 5 seconds or so, and tells the visitor he/she is being redirected to "site B". Seems like that should be easy to do in BV or in my cPanel . . . but how? Thank You.

    Re: Page Telling of Redirect

    just make a page that says that and in the meta tag do the redirect

    <META
    http-equiv="refresh"
    content="5;URL=http://www.indiana.edu/~wmhelp/new-directory">
    this is an example

    on the page

    The contents you are looking for have moved. You will be
    redirected to the new location automatically in 5 seconds.

    you can change the number 5 to 10 etc..

      OK, thanks. So, when I create that new page in BV, I assume you mean that I should:

      - right-click an open area of the page
      - select Page HTML
      - paste that code you provided into the Start of Page section
      - change the code after "URL=" to whatever URL I want the page to redirect to
      - publish the page

      Do I have all those steps right? I tried adding the code to the Start of Page section on one of my BV pages and then previewing it. No redirect happened, so maybe I'm doing something wrong. Thanks.

        Yes and change the 5 if you want more than five seconds.

        On the page itself put some text about it redirecting. Put a link to the page

          Re: Page Telling of Redirect

          I've tried putting that code first into the "Start of Page" section, and then moving it from there to the "Between Head Tag" section. In both cases, after publishing the page and visiting it, I can see the browser trying to do the redirect, but I end up on an error page, such as, "[BrowserName] Cannot Load The Page".

          The code I've pasted in each time is:
          <META
          http-equiv="refresh"
          content="5;URL=http://www.mysiteURL.com>

          Any idea what I might have done wrong? THANKS.
