Thread: publishing issue

Hello to All from Port Elizabeth in South Africa,

My name is Pippa and just from reading through the forum posts, I find the support
in this forum simply lovely.

I have an immense problem and was wondering if someone could assist.

I receive a 'time out' response when publishing my site.

I have disabled Firewall and Antivirus.

I have two simple embedded scripts.

I have one .jpg file 'pix resized,' so to speak.

I have no convoluted menus, navigation bars etc.

I am merely publishing a 'landing page', so to speak.

I have also run the html script of the page through a test validator.

No problems appear.

I am simply going banana's.

The strange this is that if I publish an index page with a few script
notes on it, the upload goes through chop chop.

I cannot believe that there is insufficient file memory
to support the data I am trying to upload.

Now I am starting to confuse myself.

This is probably a setting you have within your own computer - that is set with not enough time and causing a TIME OUT - or it could be within your network card itself. Make sure you give enough time.

Thanks so much for the swift reply.

I have adjusted my adsl line which is fast, to a time out of 5 minutes.

Still no joy.

The publishing process triggers happily and then
the status publishing bar freezes.

I receive this error:

Blue Voda Not Responding.

I checked the Publishing Log.
Must be bombing when I receive the Blue Voda Not Responding Message.

I wish there was a way I could publish using FTP.

According to the tutorials there is not.

The only time I get BV freezing on me is if I try to do anything else within BV while it is publishing. Are you multitasking? Otherwise, I don't have a clue - you might have to submit a support ticket.

Turned off Pop Up Blocker.

Shut down other applications!

Viola! Published!

I WAS multi tasking. Absolute plonker, I am.

Site needs cleaning up, but no problemo.

I'm a big multi-tasker myself so have had to sit on my hands many times while publishing. Glad it helped you.
