Thread: how do i name and publish to a folder

hi all a bit new to web making sorry for the strange question.

what i would like to do is have a folder which contains several pages on the same subject. dose any one kno how i do this and get the pages published.

i have my site up and running with serveral pages but what i want to do is have a section called yourarea then pages coming from it
the url would look like
www.community-responders.co.uk/yourarea
www.community-responders.co.uk/yourarea/page1
www.community-responders.co.uk/yourarea/page2

who do i name and publish to get these sorts of url

Hi,

• In BV, open FTP & connect to server.
• Click on the blue bar where it says FTP://0000000/public_html just to make sure you are working in this side of FTP & that you are in the public_html area.
• Top left. Click on file & select new folder.
• Name the folder yourarea. (lower case) Press OK (this parts now done) Close this area.
• Create your pages as normal & save. But when you go to publish, rename the folder field in the publish popup area. IE: public_html/yourarea
• So your new page link will be www.community-responders.co.uk/yourarea/newpage.html

Ps, If you publish any other pages. Don’t forget to change this back to public_html or other pages will get put in this directory/folder. (BV/FTP could do with a drop down box in this area to remember different directories). Oh well!

Another idea too....

Once you named the folder with the area- you can create an index page for that subfolder. That would be the main page for that sub category. Then people would only need to remember the area and add that to your site name to access it. For example:

www.community-responders.co.uk/yourarea

Because the folder contains an index page- it will automatically be opened. Just a thought. It simplifies and saves typing.
