Thread: Page Publishes

I was attempting to publish an add-on domain. The index page published without a hitch...and I can see it on the web.

Now when I try to publish my contact page, it says it pubished successfully, but I can't see it on the web.

Got any ideas?

I know this sounds basic, Muzicman, but are you 100% certain that the link you are using is correct? Also check your CP File Manager to see if the page is in the correct sub directory (add on). If it is then you could double check by clicking on the page name. The URL will appear on the right side of the screen. Right click this and copy shortcut. Paste this into your browser. If it takes you to your page then the chances are the link you are using is incorrect. Apologies if you have already tried this.

are you adding the name of your add-on domain after the public_html/ that you see in the pop up block when you go to publish?

Is your main domain still looking the same?

Perhaps you have overwritten your main domain with this page?

You should post the url's of both of your domains so we could have a further look for you ....

My main domain is www.ordained4life.com.
My add-on is www.life-enterprises.net

No, you have done it correctly but, as I suspected, your links are incorrect. You need to edit them to add ".html" to the end of each one.

Do you mean open each page of the add-on domain and make sure .html is at the end?

I edited the contact page and added .html to the end.
I tried to publish it this way public_html/life-enterprises/contact.html
and I get an error telling me there is no such file.

No, I meant edit the links - the navigation buttons on your home page, Muzicman. They are all wrong. Right now the button for the contact page links to: http://www.life-enterprises.net/talk2me

It should link to: http://www.life-enterprises.net/talk2me.html

BUT I have just tried that URL and it's still not showing the page. Did you follow the advice I gave you in the earlier post - about checking in your C-Panel? It would seem that these pages are a) either not published in the correct place or b) not named correctly (the same as the links - if this is the case, it would be easier to change the links on the nav buttons). Please double check everything. Problems like this are usually caused by something quite simple and are easy to put right IF you follow the steps advised. Please let us know how you get on. Good luck. :o)

How should I publish? I think this is one of my problems.

no such file or directory. " Why?

How do I publish them in the correct place?

I am sooo confused about the cPanel instructions you gave me.
I don't see the "contact" file anywhere in ftp manager page.
Should it be there?

I logged in to my FTP manager and I see the contact.html (I changed talk2me to conact). When I double click that file it opens in a browser. But when I try to click the contact link from the home page, it will not make the connection.

Okay. I'm sorry if my instructions have confused you. Let's try again.

1. You need to publish to: public_html/life-enterprises that's it, nothing else.

2. You aren't going to see a page called 'contact' if it's named correctly. According to your navigation buttons the page is called 'talk2me.html'. You need to ascertain whether this and the other pages are in the life-enterprises directory. You can check this using EITHER C-Panel OR Ftp Manager. Use whichever you are most comfortable with. If you cannot see this and the other pages in there then they have not been published to that directory.

3. If you need to, then re-publish your pages, ensuring that you publish to: public_html/life-enterprises

4. Please double check that your Home Page navigation buttons are linking to the correct pages - check spellings and capital letters etc.

I hope that this help is clearer and just come straight back if you need further help or clarification. :o)

You need to change the navigation button link on your home page

I decided to start over with the publishing.
I went into my FTP manager and deleted the 2
pages I was trying to publish....
Reopened the pages again in BV, confirmed the links,
and whalaa !! It worked.

Thanks for the push...I was about to pull my hair out.
