Thread: Error 404

Help!!
I keep getting the 404 error when I test my link to another page on my website. I have tried everything to make this happen....am I missing a step??
I linked the text on my index page to http and then the http (my web address) and the name of the page.html. I thought it was that simple but it doesn't work.
Simple instruction would be much appreciated

I have a seperate problem that I'm being given help on and was asked to provide a link to the page with the problem on so I created a new page and tried to link it to the last page on my site but I am now getting the 404 error.

I have a set of pages that follow on from each other with navigation buttons beginning with:
http://www.nigelharman-thewebsite.co.uk/Gallery 1.html

Gallery 1 leads to Gallery 2 etc.I have added Gallery 6 to lead on from Gallery 5 but it returns the 404 error.
I have published both page 5 and 6 again to the IP 75.126.124.162 but with no success.

The link you provided above has a space/underscore before the 1.html
and works, but Gallery2.html is just one black page......

There is no link from your home page to Gallery_1.html
and I cannot see any other Gallery links from Gallery2.html

It is customary to start all name with small letters although it is not essential.

Re-check all your links by using the
Tools icon (top menu)
Verify links (click bottom verify links)

Thanks for your reply David, I found that I couldn't open Gallery2 from Gallery1 from the link I gave you too but the links work fine from the home page,I trided to show you that way to save you trawling through the site as the Galleries are all at the back.

I've checked all the links and find that the new page I added is saying URL not found.The link looks ok as:

and is linked from:

http://www.nigelharman-thewebsite.co.uk/Gallery 4.html

When I open the page in my browser this is the address I see:

but now even the link that I've posted here is saying page not found and it is copied and pasted from the exact typing in the navigation button.

I am getting more confused by the minute.

I had to contact support in the end nad found that in the 'publish' window the folder that shouls have said public_html was blank so although it said published successfully the file had nowhere to go,hence the links were always showing up unverified.

Something so basic it completely passed me by,I feel a bit stupid now but at least the problem is solved,thank you.
