Thread: Deleting wrong names in files??

O.k. I am having a few issues so I'll just try to hammer away at them one by one.
I'm getting the http 404 error when publishing my first page.
I looked into my file and I find that I have an index.html and index.bvp and also a template.bvp (that was from the start of an old page that i am no longer using)
I am not sure if it makes a difference (I hope it does) but How do I delete these other names from my file. Perhaps these other name are what's causing the http 404 error when I try to type in the site. http://childhealthlinks.com I want to delete all the names and start over naming the home page as: index and see what happens then. I try to right click on the bad names but I get nothing and I do not see anything that would allow me to delete these names. Thank you....

When you say you want to delte the bad names, what exactly do u mean? Do u want to delete files?

Hello, I'm not sure if i want to delet files or not? When I go to Bluevoda in the upper left hand corner and I click on file, a pop up window appears and on the bottom of that window is says:

1. childhealthlinks template.bvp

2. index.html

3. sugar behavior add adhd children obesity drugs.bvp ( I second page that I made)

4. index.bvp ( I assume this is the correct name)

Are the first two names or "files" causing me to get the http 404 message when I try to publish the website. If i right click on these names--nothing happens, I cannot delete them.
IF I go to file and save page as index, I get a pop up window that says: index.bvp already exists, do you want to replace it. I click yes and then ok. When I go to publish the website home page it gives me a successfull publish, I click ok. Then I go and type www.childhealthlinks.com or I type childhealthlinks.com and I get A http 404 message. So i am trying to figure out where in the naming proccess I messed up. thanks....

This is your file menu with the blue voda site builder, the files that are listed, 1, 2, 3, 4 are the last files that you opened. This menu of files will change as your open and close different files. This is not where you would delete or add a file.

Remember, when saving files, you cannot have any spaces with the name of the file .... Nothing will happen at all if you are right clicking on these in that file menu we talk about here. To delete these files, you must go into the actual file folder on your computer, found in MY DOCUMENTS, locate the file by it's name, and delete it.

NAME YOUR FILE index
SAVE YOUR FILE index
PUBLISH YOUR FILE index to the public_html directory.

Be sure to look when you have this page open and are publishing. You will see a pop up box, it will list your server number and it should say public_html
