Thread: menu bars

Someone anyone PLEASE HELP ! website almost finished was adding one last page when all of the sudden the home page menu bar will not publish ! When i preview it it shops up at the bottom of the page along links added and my copyright ! Anybody please have any suggestions ? Have not had a problem like this til now, i have pub page & saved to fav's and then its since i have copied & pasted the page i have added menu bar into the index page that the problems has started ! I have emptied page and redone the thing 8 times over but still no joy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So now i have a live website with no menu bar, its not AOL'HELL playing up again as i am now on a much better IPS,as i thought it was not updating but its not even previewing now !

Karen,
As a temp fix, copy the menu bar to a blank page.
delete the menu bar from your index page, then save.

Go to your blank page(now contains your menu bar)
right click and select page html

in the top box where you see all the code
select all - then copy

go back to your index page
click and drag a html box onto your page (top leftside menu)
double click this new html box then
paste in the code that you copied from your menu page.

size and move this html box to the top just underneath

It should work as a temp measure until you sort out what went wrong....
I downloaded you page and it worked for me........

BTW: you also have a lot of blank space between the bottom of your white colored form and the large logo at the bottom of the screen.

Any idea's on what wrong? as neither of us have a clue?

sorry and the blank space i cant stop that either i have tried moving the arrow thingy up but it just keeps on appearing !!

Karen,
This is often what happens when an element is added and some coding is missing or wrong. Did you add any new elements in html boxes?

If you did, try temporarily removing them one at a time and see if things go to normal. When you remove one and it works, then you know the element that's got bad coding.

I have tried what david said about 4 times and also what you have said ! No differenceI have been copy & pasting and cutting menu bar since last night now and i am not sure if the original one is there now or not ? I have been trying to copy & paste from the last page that Marcuslinked up for me last night before any of tis happened ! However, i did add a few HTML boxes with some recip links and i think after reading what you have said thats when the problem started not totally sure though ! Can you possibly suggest anything? or am i goin to have to trash this site and start again ? Ime on my own now as Marcus has gone into hosp today havin op tomoz so he wont be here to help for 3 or 4 days EEEEEEEEeeek ! I have tried incidentely to preview all pages but all menu bars and not showing up, plus also half of the page starts at the bottom of the page instead of at the top !! Oh my god what has happened ? Do you reccomend that i s**** it all and start again ? Have so muich paid advertising goin on now too and no one can look anything even if they want to !

Delete the index page and do it over, save a page that is very similar as the index page, rename it and make the required edits.

You can either spend 10 hours trying to diagonose and fix something or 30 minutes doing it over....

Sorry have just noticed that my hubby has a page saved 'index clone ' can i poss use this page ? I had already emptied all bits from page and pasted somewhere else and then repasted it all back countless times, been doing this for over 10 hrs !!! but that never worked !

1) Delete the dysfunctional index page.

2) rename it index clone page to index and publish it.

A massive big ' Thank you ' to all that helped 1 day later its done !!!! Phewie can chill now and get some sleep !
