Publishing and checking the website?

Hi Folks,

I have recently set up a webpage and whislt it works there are obviously concerns relating to the security and functionality of the site.

Frontpage has an item that checks its accesability and creates a report. From this report one can see the text relating to errors, manual checks that have been done and the possible things that need to be changed to make the site function better.

Without the deeper knowledge of computer languages and script writting ability how does one go about this? i.e making good the suggestions.

Whilst it is much the same but different - The security of the site is important and how can one go about improving this without slowing down accesability and performance to the current site?

There are many questions relating to this and I am sure with all you clever folk out there I will get positive response.

Yes, there are no security functions per se inherent in front page - and front page itself will add extra coding to pages if you aren't proficient with it to know where/what to remove.

Security comes from how/what you place on your website to make it so - such as SSL certificates to protect pages that ask for secure information and from the hosting company by providing state of the art hosting (which VH does.

As David has said - please be more detailed and we might be able to answer you better without "guessing" just what you mean.

Thank you for replying so promptly.

I list a process I follwed to lead me to my original enquiry:

Using microsoft frontpage I opened the file index.html.

I went to TOOLS - ACCESSABILITY - CHECK

The following checkboxes are marked

WCAG Priority 1
WCAG Priority 2
Errors
Warnings
Manual Checklist

this then on command searches the body of the index.html and give the following result which is presented below:(my apologies for its length - you did ask to be specific)

If someone could provide some advice here it would really help me.

I have looked at the various limks listed below and I need to do something more that read them - hence my request for help

just mean that you have no alt text in your pictures.
Its always advisable to enter a short description of each pic/image on your pages. (image properties)

I just meant that anyone that wanted to read it in a more comfortable way should copy / paste / view it in a BV html box.

Any image, and any nav bars, yes.
This has 2 advantages(or more)
Some viewers switch off graphics whilst browsing(faster loads) and the alternate text will show up.
When someones mouse hovers over an image, the alternate text will also be displayed.
It is also very helpful for the blind or deaf viewers who browse the web as well.
AND its useful for the search engines.................

Without being funny - I can understand why the need for deaf folk to be able to see the alternate text.

What facility is there that makes it suitable for the blind - does it have a sound generator or voice?

It is for interest that I ask.

Hi rob, yes the visually impaired use voice programs which read out the text....
I also sometimes use a voice program to avoid eye strain....................

After I finish a webpage.
I save it as 1. index.bvp
2. public.bvp
Then I publish it with the name as " public_html "
Did I do something wrong?

I then browse my website, it remain the same. Nothing is updated.

Is there anybody can solve the problem for me.
